Biebe Gets Restless

John had been staring at the same screen for about fifteen minutes. What was wrong with him? He hadn't been able to settle to anything for days now. Damn Tinkerbell! Every since he'd found out she had nothing to do with Hando, and was, in fact, working with Bobbie at the new vet's practice, he couldn't get her out of his head.  And there he was telling himself he's sworn off women for good.

He switched off the computer and decided to catch up on the old fashioned paperwork instead. He was happier shuffling papers around than he was clicking a mouse. He decided to loose himself for a few hours in the repetitive world of filing. Looking at his 'out' box, he realised that he's been letting things slide and it might be an all day job rather than a couple of hours. Undaunted, he set about sorting all the paperwork into relevant piles.

He stopped to get a coffee once the papers were sorted. He had about six different piles neatly stacked on his desk, now he needed to put them in date order before filing them away in the cabinets. It definitely called for a drink before he started. He poured himself a black coffee and added one spoon of brown sugar crystals. Stirring the liquid, he looked in the cupboard to see if there was anything to go with it, and smiled to himself when he found a box of Lamington's. He'd gotten a taste for the Aussie cakes. Taking a couple out of the box, he replaced it and went back to his desk to enjoy his break.

He was soon back at work, and decided to start with the traffic tickets, he thought if he could get that pile sorted before lunch he would have achieved something, even if it was the smallest pile on the desk. He looked around the office. He was the only one on duty today and the place was quiet and felt empty.  He leaned back in his chair and switched on the radio. He retuned to an easy listening station and let the music wash over him as he worked.

Things were going well and the pile was quickly getting sorted into date order. John's mind was totally on his work...until he got to a certain ticket. He looked at the details and sighed. The name on the paid ticket was Jenifer Jayne McQuarie.

"Aw shit," he muttered. "Why can't I get away from you, Tinkerbell?"

As his mind went to the sight of JJ in her leathers he swore he could hear the engine of her Harley. "Fucks Sake, Biebe. Get a grip, man." he told himself. He picked up the stack of tickets again, but he couldn't take his eyes off hers. He placed the stack back on his desk and ran his fingers across her name. He pushed back his chair and ran his hands through his hair. Suddenly the office was too enclosed and stuffy for him to be in. He got up and strode to the front door.

He flung open the door and walked right into a body about to go in. He started to apologise and looked into the startled face of one Jenifer Jayne McQuarie.
