A Little Therapy
 

Toni and Travis were back in Coffs Harbor; Travis’s physician referred her to an obstetrician and she and Travis went to see him before going home.

Toni was two months pregnant and she and Travis figured it must have happened on the plane or the night in LA. Everything was going fine with the baby and they couldn’t be happier. They had lunch aboard Travis’s yacht, a takeout meal they’d picked up.

“I still can’t believe it Travis, wow!”

“I know honey, I’m glad everything is going okay. It kind of concerned me when we found out how far along you were, I’m surprised you hadn’t noticed.”

“Well I know but I’ve missed my periods before, especially when I was upset or stressed. I’ve had a lot of that you know.”

“But no more,” he smiled and took a drink of his beer, “at least I hope I don’t stress you.”

“You don’t, you make me happy Travis.” Toni finished her salad and bagged up the containers.

“I’m thinking we ought to take this boat out, maybe next week. We’ll just go for awhile if you want to.”

“What do you mean go for awhile?”

“Go cruising for a couple of weeks or so, or for as long as we want to. There’s nothing to stop us from doing that.”

“Um well, there’s my clinic honey, I can’t just leave that. I have a couple of patients that I work with regularly, Ed Hoffman is one of them, I can’t abandon him.”

“We need to talk about that Toni. I noticed you haven’t done anything about hiring anybody.”

“No, I haven’t but I will, I’ll do that this week. But Travis, even if I have a full staff I can’t just leave Ed.”

“Why not? You hire the best and then you don’t worry about it. That’s the way it’s done Toni.”

“I’ve kind of committed myself to see him through, he’s doing so well.”

“I can appreciate that honey, but you also have a commitment to me and I expect that to trump everything else.”

“Of course, I know that and you are number one, the most important thing in my life. If I could have just two more months with Ed, I think I will have done everything I can for him.”

“Two months...all right, I’ll give you two months and in the meantime, hire some people beginning this week. It comes down to this honey, I don’t want you to work, you don’t have to. I know how you feel about it but that’s about as far as I’m going to go with compromising. If you want to do physical therapy you can get physical with me.”

“I might just do that, how physical do you want me to get?” Toni took the trash to the bin under the bar.

“Oooh do I detect a bit of a temper?” he grinned.

“Maybe, I started that clinic because I saw a need for it in this community; I’m good at what I do.”

Travis came over and stood close behind her and slid his arms around her waist, “I know you are, you’re very good at it. Do you think I’m selfish for wanting you all to myself? Maybe I don’t want your hands all over somebody else’s body, I just want them on mine.”

“Travis, I’m a professional.”

“You didn’t hear what I said.”

Toni turned in his arms, “Yes I did, and yes I do think you’re selfish, you’re a lot of things Travis and I love you and I want to make you as happy as you make me and if it means I don’t work anymore then I won’t. But I do want to finish with Ed, I appreciate that compromise. And as for my hands on your body, where do you want me to start?”

“I’m almost afraid to say with the mood you’re in.”

“I’m not in a mood.”

“We’re about to find out,” Travis led her down to the bedroom and closed the door, “you wanna get physical?”

“You bet I do.” Toni unzipped his jacket and pulled his shirt out of his waistband and reached for his belt buckle.

“Am I in trouble here?” Travis teased.

“You wanted some physical therapy and you’re about to get it. Why are you still dressed?” Toni pulled her shirt off and stepped out of her skirt.

Travis pulled off his jacket and shirt, “What are you planning on doing?”

“You wanted my hands on your body didn’t you?” she unzipped his jeans, “I’ll start…here”

“Oooh, now wait a minute,” he jumped a little and pulled her up close to him and kissed her, her arms went around him and the kiss deepened. Travis stepped out of his pants and they lay down on the bed and Toni proceeded to give him a little physical therapy.
