A Peach of a Morning

Johnny had no recollection of coming home but when he woke he was in bed in his old room by himself. He ran his hand over his face and stretched his eyes open, it hurt. Looking down he noticed he still had his clothes on, minus shoes. He rolled over in the bed and could have sworn it moved, he grabbed onto the mattress.

Amanda peeked in the door, “are you awake, alive?”

“No.”

“Can I get you anything?”

“Loaded gun.”

“Aw poor Johnny, have a bit too much to drink last night?”

“How did I get home?”

“You were delivered in a limo and somehow made it inside to this bed. I watched in wonder that you could navigate through the house.”

“Ha, ha.”

“I hate to tell you this but you have to get up, in the shower and get dressed, we have to be at church in an hour.”

“No way.”

“Oh yes, you don’t want to miss Andy’s wedding after putting yourself through such an ordeal.”

“Did you put me in here, in this bed?”

“No you did that all by yourself.”

“So you didn’t throw me out?”

“No darling I didn’t, I’m just glad you made it home in one piece, now you have to get up.”

“You’re not mad?”

“Do I look mad?”

“You’re a peach Amanda,” he smiled a crooked smile.
