Andy Gets Some News
 

It was after ten o’clock when Andy walked home from the restaurant. Business was good and he’d hired another waitress today, she looked like she might work out good and she was a friend of Nell’s. He was a happy fellow walking along up the street. He noticed a light on in the bakery, Lucy never knew when to quit.

Quietly he let himself into the back door of the bakery and came through to her work table watching her for a moment. She was decorating a birthday cake, he’d learned and waited until she put the frosting bag down before he spoke.

“Don’t you ever quit working?” Moving over to her and slipping his arms around her waist.

“Hey sweetie,” she kissed him, “good night at the restaurant?”

“Yeah, full dining room. Who’s birthday?”

“Kim Barrett’s girlfriend.”

“I didn’t know he had a girl.”

“Got two of them, one is his daughter.”

“Ah, daughter…did you um take that test?”

Lucy finished the last little swirl before she answered him, “yes.”

“And?”

“I made an appointment with a gynecologist.” She carefully put the bag down.

“Well what does that mean…are we?”

“I told you a long time ago I wanted to have your babies, looks like I might be about to do that,” she beamed at him.

“Really? Lucy…oh Lucy,” he folded her into his arms.

“Are you glad, does it make you happy Andy?”

“Yeah Lucy, oh man does it ever.” A long and loving kiss followed.
