Confinement

Toni was in the other master bedroom, having been carried down through the house by Kyle so Bill McGee could get his crew in there and finish off the nursery. She was miserable, feeling like she was missing days of her life confined to the bed, she had to ask Travis what day it was that morning. As a physical therapist she put herself through a routine of exercises each day to keep her muscle tone and she was eating healthier now since she wasn’t in the kitchen snacking. But she missed being out and about The Glen and her father was ill she knew that but she couldn’t go see him. Travis had been and brought him in some groceries. She tossed the book down on the bed and sighed.

Her cell phone rang it was her father, “How are you today, Toni?”

“In bed, how are you?”

“I’m going to stay with Winnie Peeg for awhile; she’s here now packing up for me.”

“Oh…well that’s good, you don’t need to be alone. I told you to come out here.”

“One bed bound body is enough for any household. I just wanted you to know where I would be for awhile.”

“I’m glad you called at least there will be someone there for you.”

“Yes, there will be.”

Well, she thought, Dad and Winnie Peeg….

“Hey baby,” Travis came into the bedroom with a vase of roses and stooped to kiss her.

“Oh Travis, how lovely, you’ve been at the Greenery.”

“I have. Do you need anything honey?”

“No…yes…you.”

“You’ve got me,” he lay down on the bed with her. “Kyle picked up some new games we can try tonight if you want to.”

“Video games, who would have ever thunk it?” she laughed, “yes darling, we’ll play the new games. I just had a call from Dad, he’s moving in with Miss Peeg?” she raised her brows.

“Is he now…good for him, she’ll be good for him he’s kinda down and depressed right now.”

“Hmm, I hate it that I couldn’t do a thing for him.”

“He’s been taken care of honey, Tomalee has sent food by Lee and he’s cleaned for him so he’s not been entirely left alone.”

“You are so good at taking care of everything.” She kissed him.

“I told you a long time ago…you’d never have to worry about anything.”

“I can always find something especially lying around here all day; I worry about you I can’t take care of you right now.”

“Yes you are, you’re taking care of our son Cole and that’s taking care of me.”

“How’s the nursery coming along?”

“They’re painting tomorrow, the colors you chose so it’s that far along you still want that one wall papered?”

“Yes…I can’t wait to see it and I’ve ordered all that stuff we looked at online so it’s all going to come together.” She looked up meeting his eyes wanting to do so much more for him but knowing she couldn’t. She laid her hand on his cheek, “I love you.”

“Hmm talk like that can get you in trouble, I’d better get out of here. It’s coming honey, we just have to be patient.” He kissed her palm and slid off the bed. “I’m going into The Glen to the bank anything you need from town?”

“Well…if you go by Lucy’s….”
