Decorating Dinner

Mr. Jessup held her chair in a most gentlemanly fashion as she sat down to dinner.

“Thank you Mr. Jessup.”

“Miss Peeg, I am so happy you agreed to join me for dinner, it makes a much nicer meal to share a table.” Mr. Jessup said in his soft gentle voice.

“Yes well one does like company…on occasion.”

They were given menus and made their selections.

“Now Miss Peeg, I’m going to ask you a favor.”

Miss Peeg’s eyes widened.

“It has to do with my rooms above the corner store. I shall be decorating very soon and I would like for you to choose the wallpapers and paint colors.”

“Oh well Mr. Jessup I would think you would want to do that since you will be living there. It must be something you would like I’m afraid my tastes sometimes run to the bizarre.”

He smiled sweetly, “Oh no Miss Peeg, I would be comfortable with your choices.”

“I once painted my room a shocking shade of purple with Indian saris for drapery.”

He giggled, “oh my but that does sound exotic.” He blinked and a sparkle appeared.

Miss Peeg looked at him and picked up her water glass.

“But then you have traveled extensively and could bring many ideas to this old professor’s abode. Yes many ideas indeed. I do find you a fascinating woman Miss Peeg.”

“Ha, ha, Mr. Jessup you really do not know me I’m afraid I would bore you to tears. Perhaps you should hire a decorator to complete your rooms.”

“Oh no Miss Peeg, I really would love the special touch I’m sure you will bring.”

“But Mr. Jessup I’m not bringing a touch…no not at all. I’m afraid I must decline I’m very sorry but decorating is not my expertise.”

“You are a fascinating woman Miss Peeg,” he giggled again.
