He was not in a good place, everything he thought was true was not. He hated asking her where she’d been because he really did not want to know. The real estate broker called and left a message for her about a place for her office in Coffs, wanted to set up a meeting. She’d told him she had a meeting with the same man before she left. She was lying to him that hurt him worse than anything.

He thought about having her followed but the truth was, he didn’t want the embarrassment that would follow. If old Jessup was right and she was seeing Roberts…then heaven help him. He didn’t know what he felt right now, he wanted Jan to turn to him, honestly look him in the eye and tell him she loved him and nothing else mattered and that would be that. Nothing else would. But she was avoiding him, wouldn’t look him in the eye and so he knew.
