Games of the Heart and Mind

Nonnie’s Uncle Stephen actually blushed a little when he caught her and Richie in a passionate embrace, but he tried to cover his embarrassment with a little humor…it was lost on Nonnie.

“You know you should knock be for entering,” she moved out of Richie’s arms.

“But my dear…it’s my kitchen.”

Richie trying hard to regain his composure, “Sorry, Mr. Scott…it just happened.”

“My dear, I am well acquainted with happenings,” his eyes slid down Richie’s front noticing the bulge in his jeans he smiled slightly and turned his attention to his casserole. “You haven’t touched this?” he looked at Nonnie.

“You are kidding; it looks a little…unformed.” She stood by Richie until he moved a little and she turned and caught his eye and winked.

“You have no appreciation for gourmet my dear, something lacking in your education…I blame myself. Would you care to join me, Richie?”

“Um…no thanks, I need to get back to The Glen…I’ll uh…”

“Oh dear me no, please, not on my account. You are welcome to go upstairs and continue on…shame to waste something like that,” He smiled and moved over to a wine cooler to select a bottle.

Nonnie took Richie’s hand and led him toward the stairs, “Say good night, Uncle Stephen.”

Stephen looked up from his wine cooler, “Good night.”

Richie headed toward the door once they were upstairs, “Look ,I’m...uh...sorry about that.”

“Why? I led you right to it, Richie…nothing to be sorry about. However, I’m glad Uncle Stephen made his entrance…neither of us are ready.”

“I don’t know about that. I was ready.”

“No, your body was but your mind is not…you’re not ready for me…not yet.”

“You’re playing games.”

“I’m not playing games…I might be interested in you, like I said, I get hungry, but I’m greedy Richie. I don’t want a slice of the pie, I’d want the whole thing.” She opened the door for him, “I was an only child with no little playmates I had to share my toys with.”

Richie smiled a little understanding, “About that dinner invitation…”

“Same rules apply? I get to chose what we do afterward.”

“Sounds good…Saturday night?”

“I’ll meet you in the Tavern, I close my shop at 5:30.”

He kissed her softly, “Until Saturday…good night, Nonnie.”

“Night Richie.” Nonnie closed the door and pushed the button to let him through the entry gates.
