Grave Digger

He knew he’d let things go on for too long, the silence in the house was the loudest thing he heard when he came in the door every night. He’d moved his clothes to one of the guest rooms. He was surprised she hadn’t told him to get his things and get out. He was waiting for it knew it was coming.

Richie ate his meals at the Tavern, burgers and fries, sandwich of the day he really didn’t care what he ate. After work he took his seat at the bar and drank himself numb and went home. There was no comfort there anymore for him. He hadn’t seen Toni in days and wondered how that could be. He would stand in the hallway his head against her bedroom door. Maybe Travis was right he didn’t have any balls anymore he couldn’t knock it down and go in.

He had another problem now. Jan McGee.

He hated to see a woman cry and he’d comforted her the only way he knew how, it had been a mistake he knew it but what was he going to do now? He’d met her a couple of times in Coffs they were both hurting seeking some comfort.

He was digging his own grave.
