Invitations On The Way
Jan found Travis in the back garden against a tree with Tee’s puppy, Bear.
“Have you taught him anything useful like going outside to pee?” Jan asked, smiling and sitting down with him.
“No but he can run with a stick, he’s good at that,” he smiled.
“I wanted you to look this over, it’s the invitation to the barbie; I set the date for the 20th.”
“Looks good to me. I like that bit about the best beef. Are you mailing them out?”
“I thought I might put it in the paper since it’s for all the residents.”
“That means we’ll have to have security at the gate; I don’t want half of NSW here for a free meal.”
“Would you rather I didn’t put it in the paper?”
“No go ahead I’ll tell Kyle to bring in a couple of blokes.”
“Your Mum wants to know if you’ve seen Bill.”
“He’s down at the house. Last time I saw him he had a tool belt on; I reckon he’s helping build the thing. What are you all dressed up for?”
“I’m not dressed up, just dressed. I’m going into to town by the Times office and then out to see Toni.”
“You think you and Toni are gonna be mates?”
Jan smiled, “I think we are mates.”
“Well give me a kiss before you go.”
Jan was going to give him a quickie but he had other ideas and pulled her down in his lap and did a proper job of it.
“Hmm, I’m not sure I want to go anywhere now.” Jan ran her hand inside his shirt.
Bear brought his stick back and stood there impatiently huffing and blowing for Travis to throw it again.
“Sorry love…Bear was here first.”
