Jimmy & Nell Conversation
 

“You know Nell, just one time I’d like to wake up with you next to me.” Jimmy Kelp lay on Nell’s bed while she dressed.

“Kinda hard to do with our schedules, yours never seems jive with mine.”

“You like workin’ nights don’t ya?”

“I make more money working nights, bigger tips. I saw your boss in there tonight with Toni Roberts.”

“Oh yeah, Travis took her out did he?”

“They were all lovey dovey and drinking expensive wine.”

“Yeah that’s Travis, nothin’ but the best for him.”

“What’s he like to work for?”

“He’s easy, don’t mind getting’ dirty with the rest of us. You wouldn’t know he had any money to talk to him or be around him, just a regular bloke. You about ready?”

“Yeah, as soon as I find my shoes.”

“You sure pizza’s okay, we can do somethin’ else if you want to.”

“Pizza is fine, sounds good in fact, besides it’s late to be ordering dinner anywhere.”

“You look nice Nell, I just might take you back to bed.” Jimmy smiled and winked.

“But I’m hungry, you made me work up an appetite.”

Jimmy got off the bed and hugged her and kissed her again, “all right let’s go find your pizza.”

Later eating pizza and drinking beer Jimmy asked her about her friend, “How’s your friend working out, Molly ain’t that her name?”

“Molly’s doing great, she’d like to work nights but she can’t she’s got a kid to look after.”

“I didn’t know she had a kid, you never said.”

“It’s not hers, but she’s had him since he was a year old, can you imagine somebody dumping a kid on you and taking off, that’s what happened.”

“No, I’m surprised she kept him, where’s his mama?”

“She don’t know but she loves the little boy, he’s really cute. Molly takes good care of him.”

“What if his mama shows up and wants him back?”

“She’d fight to keep him I think, his mama’s not much of a parent.”

“Takes all kinds I reckon, looks like we might just make the late show if you finish that last piece of pizza.”
