Lock the Door?

“Well hello there Solicitor,”

“Hey, Nonnie,” Richie leaned over the counter and gave her a kiss.

“You’ve been out and about?”

“Went over to Coffs and stopped by the hospital to see Toni and Travis’s new baby.”

“That was nice of you, I suppose he’s a darling. Is Toni okay?”

“Yeah she’s fine I think, he’s a baby…cute,” he tilted his head and grinned.

“You aren’t working today?”

“I’m always workin’ but I’m thinking about pizza and beer…interested?”

“I’m interested, come by at closing time.”

“I never know when your closing time is.”

“That’s going to change I hired someone today, Cara Williams…know her?”

“I know who she is, lives with Kim Barrett.”

“Oh…big time Kim…well that’s convenient she’s just up the street then.”

“Give me a ring when you’re closing.”

“I might close right now and take you upstairs and jump your bones.”

“Serious?” his eyes lit up.

“No,” she grinned. “Pizza, extra pepperoni.”

“You know one of these days you’re gonna say shit like that and I’m gonna take you up on it right then. I could right now against the wall back there.”

“Could you…” she looked him in the eye.

“Yeah…”

“Would you?”

“Nonnie…”

“Just asking ?”

“Lock the fuckin’ door.” He began unbuckling his belt.

“I was kidding…”

“I’m not…”

“People can see from the sidewalk…”

“Do you care?”

“Well actually I do…what has got into you today?”

“I was fine until you started this.”

“Save it for later, I promise you walls, floors, tables, beds whatever you want.”

“Chicken shit…” he grinned.

“You’re darn right…whew I’m not coming anywhere near you…go back to your office.”

He buckled his belt, “You’ll be thinking about it all afternoon, you’ll be wishing you’d locked the damn door.”

He turned and smiled at her as he left. She was already wishing she’d locked the door.
