Richie Meets Nonnie

“That’s a lot of pink,” Richie commented from the doorway of Nonnie’s shop. He’d seen the light on when he closed up his office and wandered over. Miss Peeg had filled him in on the proposed shop.

Nonnie was just putting the finishing touches on the last window frame. “Yeah well I like pink,” she stood and dropped the paintbrush in a bucket. “How are ya I’m Nonnie Scott.”

Richie looked at the woman, tall with golden blond hair pulled back in a clip and liberally striped with pink paint, “I can see that,” he smiled, “I’m Richie Roberts from across the street.”

“Oh yes, Miss Peeg works for you, she was in earlier,” Nonnie wiped her pinkish hands on her overalls. “I probably need to ask you a few things about opening this shop.”

“You haven’t talked to anybody yet…just painted it pink?”

Nonnie grinned, “I paid the rent and they said do what you want with it so I did. My uncle has a shop in Coffs he’s kind of advising me and he advised me to find a local solicitor and here you are in my doorway, how convenient.”

“I left my solicitor hat across the street but come on by anytime, Miss Peeg or myself will be there. I’m uh heading for the Tavern, would you uh?”

“No I wouldn’t but thank you anyway. I’m going to clean up here and head home and try and scrub this paint of my person. I’ll drop by in the next couple of days.”

“I look forward to seeing you…well uh have a good night.”

“Yeah, you too,” Nonnie watched him walk across the street and turned to her paint buckets that had to be washed out. Not that it mattered to her but she wondered if he was married.
