Takeaway

Dom stopped by Andy’s on the way to work for a takeaway breakfast sandwich. He didn’t go into the restaurant but wandered into the Tavern where a few people sat drinking coffee and reading the paper. He turned as Andy came out and gave one bloke his breakfast bag, Johnny, he’d met him before, nice bloke, he nodded at him as he left.

“Yours is coming right up Dom.”

“Ta Andy, no rush.” He picked up a paper and glanced at the headlines and hearing voices again he looked up.

“He’ll be fine and you can pick him up anytime, just let me know so I can have him ready.” It was Johnny’s girl carrying a kid who looked too big to be carried by a little thing like her.

“Is Johnny gone?” Amanda asked, sticking her head in the Tavern.

“Ah yeah, just left. Looks like that kid should be carrying you,” Dom chuckled.

“Yeah, he’s a big boy but not happy to leave his mum,” She shifted him on her hip.

“You babysitting now?”

“I’ve got a kindy and preschool open now.” Amanda smiled proudly, “I don’t usually pick up the kids but she was late to work this morning.”

Andy came out with Dom’s breakfast baggie, “Here ya go Dom, have a good one.”

“Yeah you too Andy,” Dom stopped by Amanda - who was going out the door - and held it for her, “You need any help with him getting him in the car or anything?”

“I can manage, thanks Dom.” Amanda smiled and moved toward her vehicle, the little boy hanging over her shoulder smiled at Dom.

Dom waved at him, cute kid.
