Temporary Sanity
Dom and Molly stepped outside of the courthouse in Coffs. Dom lit a cigarette, so far it looked good for him. The guardian was on his side he could tell and for now was recommending that Nic remain with Molly because she represented a stable environment for him. The judge had agreed and temporarily gave her custody until the hearing.
“What do you want to do go back to your apartment now?”
“Yes, there’s really no reason for me to remain at your place, Dom.” Except that she wanted to stay with him.
“Okay,” he looked at her for a moment, “I’ll take ya by there…you know maybe you need some groceries or something, that little guy can eat.”
“I know,” she smiled.
This was the first time she’d been back to her apartment since the day she’d left with Nic and ended up at Hando’s garage. She was not prepared for what she found. Crime tape across her door which had been bashed in.
“Oh my God…!”
“Somebody’s done a number on your place” Dom wanted to open the door but he didn’t. “I don’t think we’d better go in there.”
Molly’s neighbor hearing them in the hallway came out of her unit, “Molly….it’s awful what she done to your home, just awful, tore everything up she did.”
“Who?”
“That wild woman, I gave the police a description of her and told them what I found. She was in there throwing things out of your cabinets, breaking dishes and scattering food…she was crazy I tell ya.”
“What did she look like?” Dom asked.
“It was that same woman who was here before banging on the door, blond about Molly’s size but mean, oh she was mean.”
Dom looked at Molly, “Thanks…I guess we’d better go back to my place.”
“I sure hope they catch that woman, she’s crazy…” her neighbor went back inside her unit.
“It was Rosemary,” Molly said.
“We need to let the cops know…I’ll call my solicitor now.” He pulled out his phone on the way down the stairs. She agreed to meet them at the police station.
Molly filed her report and with the statement from the neighbor a warrant for Rosemary’s arrest was in the works.
They were back in Dom’s car outside of the police station. Molly was quietly crying, wiping her face with a tissue.
“Molly…let’s go get Nic an go home. I’ve had enough courthouses and cops for the day. This is going to help us…” He started his car and pulled out into the traffic, “No way is a judge going to give Rosemary custody now.” He reached over and took her hand for a minute, “It’s going to be okay…don’t worry.”
