The McGees A Day in the Life
Travis and Tee stopped off in The Glen to see how the butcher shop was coming
along. Windows were being installed today and Bill McGee was standing back
watching.
“How’s it coming, Dad?”
“Looking good son, hiya Tee.”
“Grandpa we’re going to the marina, Uncle Travis is taking the boat out today.”
“Oh yeah, sure you hadn’t rather stay around here an swing a hammer?”
“I don’t think so,” Tee gave him a crooked grin.
“I guess you’d better start looking for a butcher.” Travis eyed his Dad.
“I don’t know nothing about hiring butchers, Travis.”
Travis grinned, “You’d better figure it out, I told you this was your baby. Check with Tom down at the packing plant he’ll probably give you a hint.”
“Damn you Travis…”
Travis chuckled, “Don’t be damning me this was all your idea to start with I’ve got enough on my plate. Hey Tee,” Travis pulled some money from his pocket, “Go over to Lucy’s and get us some chocolate chip cookies.”
“All Right!” Tee ran across the street corner.
“You’re doing a good job here Dad and I hear everybody can’t wait until it opens. “
Tee was back in a minute with a bag of cookies, “Okay Uncle Travis we’re ready now.”
“Guess I’d better get to Coffs, see ya tonight Dad.”
“What’s happening tonight?”
“Dinner at the house.” Travis waved and he and Tee left for the marina.
Sarah walked from her garden up to the main house and came in through the kitchen, “Tomalee I’ve brought some tomatoes and some runner beans.”
“Oh thank you Sarah, I will cook them tonight for you.”
“How’s Toni?”
“Well you go see for yourself.”
Sarah walked back to the master bedroom and stopped by the nursery. All was ready now for Cole to make his appearance. She stepped smiling through to the bedroom. “Hello dear how are you today?”
“I’m an incubator and nothing else. Absobloodylutely nothing else.”
Sarah sat down on the bed, “Only for five more weeks and then you’ll be a mother.”
“I know…this is so hard. Travis and Tee have gone to the marina taking the boat out, do you know how much I wanted to go…”
“Yes I can see it.”
“The only place I get to go is to the doctor’s office.”
“It won’t be forever dear you can do this. We’re all coming for dinner tonight I brought some veg for Tomalee.”
“How’s the garden coming along?”
“It’s feeding us. I ran into Richie in town the other day and he asked about you.”
“How is he?”
“He looks good, says he’s doing well he’s bought a house he says.”
“Good for him, he needed to get out of that boarding house.”
“I went by to see your father too, Winnie is taking good care of him , he might not want to leave.”
“Really,” Toni smiled, “That would be a pairing wouldn’t it?”
“Yes actually I think it would be good for both of them.”
Toni looked at her and smiled.
