The Trash Bin

It had been an early morning for Travis and a busy one for Jan as well. By the time Travis’ private jet landed in Coffs his personal security was already in place. He was met by a driver who was to be his personal bodyguard. The man’s name was Kyle Corvin and it was his job to shadow Travis.

Travis had explained to Tee about some trouble at the ranch he needed to take care of and that Jan would be bringing him out later in the week. Tee had been disappointed that he couldn’t go with him.

Bill McGee was waiting for Travis when he arrived at the ranch, "I’ve been up to the guest house and knocked this morning but if Joe’s there he ain’t answering the door."

Travis turned, "What about Joe?"

"Well…nothing I just thought he ought to know there’s been a murder. I saw his lights on last night so I know he was there. Come to think of it I haven’t seen him since you left."

Travis wasn’t concerned about Joe and asked for Kelp the foreman to tell him what he knew about the murder. After listening to his account he took Kyle into the house and introduced him to his mother who showed him to his room.

Travis found Kyle to be a likable fellow although not happy he had a shadow at least it was one he could live with. His mother was not happy at all that a stranger was to be living with them.

"I don’t understand this Travis, why is it necessary for you to have a body guard?" she asked catching up with him in the kitchen.

Travis hugged his mother, "because I got a lot of money Mum, people kill for that you know? He’ll keep people from hassling me…it will be all right."

It was around 8:30, Travis and his family had just finished breakfast when there was some commotion in the kitchen. Sarah McGee went to find out what was going on. The cook-housekeeper was talking to a very upset maid. The girl had been up to the guest house to clean and found something.

"Travis," his mother said, "I think you’d better go up to the guest house…the maid has found something in the trash bin."

Travis, his father and Kyle went to the guest house and into the bathroom. "What the hell?" Travis said.

"Don’t touch them," said Kyle

"What is it?" asked Bill from the doorway to the bathroom.

"Looks like bloody clothes…torn bloody clothes." Travis said backing away. "Somebody call the Sheriff."
