Travis Goes to Virginia

When court recessed on Thursday afternoon Travis knew all he had to do was write a check. When the judge heard the evidence his lawyers presented, evidence gathered by Miss Peeg and Richie Roberts about Tee’s natural father’s time in prison for dealing drugs that was essentially the end of it. They just had to go through the formalities.

Travis went ahead and made arrangements for Tee and Kyle to go home. They would be flying out on Saturday morning in the private jet. He also made his own arrangements for flying to Virginia on Friday night. He planned to spend the weekend with Toni and she was going to fly home with him on Monday, cutting her visit short by two days. Travis was ready to go home.

He’d already had a conversation with Jean, he was sorry but that’s the way it was. Jean already suspected because she’d been around Richie for the last few days. He was awfully glad now that things had gone as they had between them, it would certainly have complicated matters if she was living in the beach house he’d bought. He offered it to Toni but she hadn’t said yes or no yet. He doubted she’d want to go back to the house she’d shared with Richie.

Toni borrowed her mother’s car and went to the airport to pick up Travis. He was barely through the gate before she had her arms around him.

“Let’s let these people get by Toni,” he grinned and moved her out of the way. “God you look so pretty,” he kissed her and holding hands they left the airport.

“I can’t believe you’re here,” Toni leaned against him as they walked to the parking lot.

“You’re sure your Mother’s not going to throw something at me.”

“No, darling, she has a guest room all ready for you,” Toni gave him a sideways grin.

“Guest room…fuck that Toni.”

“I thought the same thing but it’s her house and she doesn’t know that we’re…that…”

“What does she think we’re doin’ holding hands, writin’ notes?”

“It’s because we’re both still married.”

“A technicality, we have to stop in Sydney on the way back, so I can sign some papers and after that I’m done. You need to be thinking about yours Toni; I’ll get my people to handle it for you if you want me to unless you know somebody that will do a good job for you.”

“I don’t know anybody; you know I never had to worry about legal issues.”

“You still don’t have to worry about them, I’ll get my solicitor to draw it up you need to figure out what you want out of it.”

“I…I don’t want anything Travis except my Grandmother’s things that she left me and my clothes.”

Travis looked at her and smiled and hugged her to him, she had no idea what to do. “We need to talk Toni about what is going to happen when you get home. Lord knows I want to take you home with me and if you want to do that I will that’s up to you. “He opened the car door and slid in on the passenger side and buckled up.

Toni started the car, “I know I’ve got some decisions to make Travis, this has all happened so fast I’m still waiting for it to all sink in you know?”

“You’re not having second thoughts are you?”

“No...Oh no Travis not at all. I don’t want to go back to my house, I can’t do that, I don’t know if he’s still there or not. It’s bad enough what I’ve done I don’t think I should move in with you until the papers are filed, until everything is settled between me and Richie.”

“I’ve got that beach house just sitting there Toni, it’s yours if you want it.”

“I think I want it for awhile and if you know a good divorce solicitor I would appreciate the help.”

He reached over and put his hand on the back of her neck playing with her hair, “You’ve got all the help I can give you honey, and you know that.”

Toni pulled the car into her mother’s garage, “Are you ready for this?”

“Hell I’m ready for anything,” Travis grinned and got out of the car pulling his bag from the trunk.

“You’ve not met Gena Stanley, Travis, forewarned is forearmed.”

“Oh do I need to arm myself?” he took her hand walking to the front door.
