Unworthy Pursuits
Travis and Jan were in Sydney, he had some business meetings, she had some business meetings and they planned to take care of a few things that needed doing like Travis’s haircut.
“I have an appointment for you at the salon at 2:00 for the full works.” Jan said following him through the flat overlooking the harbour. She had her blackberry out, also you’re to see…”
“Full works,” Travis stopped and turned, “what the hell is that?”
“A facial, a massage, a manicure, a body scrub…”
“Hey ain’t nobody scrubbing my body but you babe. All I need is a friggin’ haircut.”
“Is it my job to look after you? Well then Travis let me do it. I’ll be there with you.”
“Who’s scrubbing your body?” he cocked an eyebrow.
Jan smiled, “don’t worry no one that’s interested in it.”
He grabbed her around the waist, “you know somewhere down in my manly soul something tells me real men don’t get facials I only do this shit because of you I’m not one of your metro-sexuals you know.”
“I know exactly what you are and you’re a good looking man it’s called taking care of your looks.”
“I’m not a model honey I’m a cattle man. I earned these wrinkles.”
“You’re out in the weather more you’re tanning that’s why it’s even more important to take care of your skin.”
“I wonder if Kelp gets facials?” he cocked his head sideways. “All right I know I’m losing but I draw the line at the scrubbing.”
Jan smiled, “Gracie wants to know if we’ll be in for lunch today?”
“What time is your meeting?” He asked.
“At one, I should be out by half past.”
“Ah no, tell her no we’ll pick something up somewhere. You know its go, go, go when we’re here it seems like we never stop.”
“That’s because we’re trying to cram everything into three days we would normally do in a week’s time, but I understand.”
“So what did your staff think about the move are any of them going to Coffs?”
“Three, but three of the movers and shakers so I’m pleased,” Jan smiled up at him.
They had arrived the day before and Travis went off to his meeting with the bankers, and Jan went to her office at the PR firm she owned. She was moving the operation to Coffs Harbour a deal that had not been received well by her people only three had agreed to the move.
“G’day Kyle,” Travis said as they exited the elevator, “Have a good night?”
“Oh yeah,” he smiled. “We’re still going to the match?” he was referring to a rugby game.
“You bet I’m devoting the entire day tomorrow to unworthy pursuits,” Travis said donning his sunglasses. “Let’s go see a man about a boat.”
Travis was buying a yacht he had promised Jan a honeymoon and long and worthy cruise seemed just the ticket.

They met with a man who knew a thing or two about yachts and he led them to the one in question. One of Travis’s people at the bank had been on the look- out for a boat for him.
“Travis what are we doing” Jan asked coming aboard the yacht.
“Having a look,” he replied taking her hand and following the expert over the boat as it pulled out into the harbour.
They were down in the master cabin, “What do you think?” he asked her, “Think you could honeymoon in this tub?”
“What…Travis are you buying this?”
“Yes I am if you approve of it.”
“It’s a lot of boat, it’s beautiful, Travis you don’t know anything about boats.”
“You’re right I don’t but I don’t get seasick, we’ll hire a crew and all we have to do is relax and enjoy.”
Jan looked up at him, “you never cease to amaze me, I thought we were flying somewhere.”
“Ah anybody can fly, I like to take things slow and easy,” he pressed himself to her.
“Travis…”
“Ah excuse me sir, luncheon is on.”
Travis smiled took her hand and led her up on deck.
