Warms on Contact

Toni and Travis had been to a Christmas Party in Coffs, one of the neighboring yachts in the harbor threw a party. They were still laughing over the gift game.

“What did you end up with?” he asked.

She smirked, “PB&J.”

“What’s that?”

“Peanut butter and KY jelly, says it warms on contact.”

Travis grinned, “you want a warm peanut butter sandwich.”

“Yeah, that’s what I want,” she giggled.

“What did you finally end up with I know you stole gifts several times.”

“A bottle of whiskey,” he made a face at her.

“Lucky you, I’ll be glad when I can have a drink again, strange being at a party and sipping ginger ale.”

“You could have had wine.”

“I’d rather do that at home.”

Travis pulled into Glenridge, “Oh look all the lights are up, now that’s something.”

“Looks like a wonderland…but no snow.”

“I don’t want any snow.”

“Have you ever been in snow?”

“Oh hell yeah that’s why I don’t want any, it’s cold and wet.” He pulled up to the front of the house and let her out.

Toni looked around at all the lights in the trees and over the house, it really was nice looking. Her front door opened and Lee held it for her.

“Why thank you Lee.”

He gave her a little bow and took her wrap and then disappeared into the house. Toni walked around looking at the tree and the packages underneath, there were some new ones. It was late and the house was quiet, Tee must be asleep, she thought.

Travis had taken the car down to the garage and walked back smiling at all the lights his men had put up.

“Looks like Christmas,” he said coming in and closing the door, no Lee for him.

“Umm yes it does, looks like Santa’s been busy again, more presents. I’ve got to wrap mine yet.”

“I love Christmas, gonna take Tee to Coffs so we can decorate the boat, he’ll love that.”

Toni smiled, “Yeah he will.”

“What, what are you smiling about?”

“I’ve never been so happy…you.”

Travis kissed her, “You…you’re what makes it all worthwhile.” He had his bottle of whiskey and took it over to the drink tray and set it down. “Save that for later.”

Toni turned the gag gift in her hand and looked over at him, the KY was attached to the jar of peanut butter with a red ribbon. “Guess I’ll save mine too.”

“You could probably use the peanut butter.” He looked at her and lifted his chin.

“Nah, it’s chunky might scratch up things.” She grinned.

“You devil.”

“Oh maybe we could use the KY.” She widened her eyes.

“You think you need warming?” he moved over to her with a twinkle in his eye.

“Um hm, on contact.”

“I’ve got your contact…right here.”
