When Right is Wrong

“Hey Mr. McGee,” Kyle pulled his and Tee’s bags from the back of the SUV.

“Kyle,” he grabbed his grandson and hugged him, “good to see you back here boy.”

“I’m glad to be back home too, but I hate I missed my game today.”

“Oh there’ll be more games Tee, you run on into the house now.” Bill watched Tee run up the steps.

“Kyle, what the hell is Travis up to?”

“Now Mr. McGee you know I don’t carry tales.”

“I ain’t asking for a tale I want the truth, has he lost his mind?”

“I don’t believe so, I think he might have found something this time.”

“My wife talked to him, I just can’t believe it…that he’d take another man’s wife.”

“I ain’t got no opinion on that, I see him happy and that’s what matters to me. That’s my job keeping him safe and happy and out of trouble.” Kyle carried the bags up the steps.

“Well you’re not with him right now so who’s looking after him in Virginia?”

“Toni Roberts is I reckon…I wouldn’t have let him go off by himself if I didn’t think he could handle it. Toni’s good for him you’ll see.”

Bill McGee scratched his head, “Yeah, if her husband don’t shoot him first.”

“I’m gonna meet them at the airport in Sydney, he’ll be all right.”

Kyle went on into the house and Bill stood on the front porch a little while looking up at the stars wondering where he’d gone wrong with Travis. He’d taught him better than that. And Sarah, damned if she was acting like it was a miracle happening. It wasn’t right…it wasn’t right and Travis was bound to know it.
