Winnie and Michael’s Second Dinner
They were laughing heartily as they left the restaurant in Coffs, a second dinner date and it was even better than the first. They had so much in common, similar backgrounds made for good conversation.
“Oh my dear Winnie this had been such good fun, I really enjoy your company,” Michael Stanley opened her car door for her.
“Yes you are an excellent dinner companion.”
“You’re sure you won’t come up for a drink, it’s only down the street a block.”
“Oh no, It’s late already and I must be in the office by eight but thank you again.” Winnie Peeg smiled charmingly up at him from her drivers seat.
“I’ll call you Winnie do drive safely now.” He smiled and closed her door and waited until she backed out and reached the road before turning and walking back to his flat.
Winnie drove back to The Glen still smiling when she pulled up at Millies. It wouldn’t be long now she would be pulling up at her own little cottage. The decorators were in now finishing up the painting and papering. Then perhaps she might try her hand at preparing a meal for Michael. Oh, she laughed it had been years since she’d been in a kitchen for anything other than a biscuit and a cup of tea.
She closed her car door and ran up the steps to the inn, it had been a most wonderful evening.
Down the street a block above Jessup’s corner store the curtain fell back into place and the light went out in the lounge of Mr. Jessup’s flat.
