Tori Makes a Confession

Tom and Stevo were at the ambulance HQ in Coffs. They’d finished a night shift and had driven both the ambulance and the rapid response car in to stock up on supplies.

Stevo had finished the ambulance and was about to drive it back to The Glen and spend a relaxing couple of days with Jeff. A vehicle pulled up in front of the bay and he smiled.

“Hey, Tom, looks like you’ve got company.”

Tom looked up to see Ceri’s little red Smart car and grinned as Tori go out of the passenger door. He walked over and kissed Ceri on the cheek, thanking her for giving Tori a lift. They both waved as she took off towards the shops.

“Hello, darling,” Tori said, hugging and kissing her man. “Ceri was coming into town to get her hair done, and offered me a lift. Thought I’d surprise you.”

“A nice surprise it is too, Luv. Where’s Boomer?”

“Meri has him. Her cousin bought one of the litter down, so Booms is playing with his brother.”

“So, we can have a wander round the shops without any dirty looks today then,” Tom grinned.

“Not everyone is like old man Jessup, Tom. When Booms has his working harness on, he’s welcomed everywhere. It’s nice to have you and me time for a bit though.”

“Do you want to drive, or shall we walk?” Tom enquired.

“I think we can walk, darling. It’s not too hot today, and you don’t want to cause a panic driving the RR car into the centre do you?”

Tom winked at her before stowing away the last of the supplies and locking up the car after making sure it wasn’t blocking any access. He took Tori’s hand and they took a leisurely walk into the centre of town.

“Let’s get a picnic lunch and go eat in the park,” Tori said, stopping and looking in the window of a sandwich shop. She pointed at the cake display and turned to Tom. “I’ll bet they’re not half as good as Lucy’s, but we’ll give them a go shall we?”

Going inside, they chose their sandwiches and cake, and finished off getting a couple of bottles of chilled water. Walking a little further down the street, they stopped and crossed the road, walking through the entrance of the park and finding an empty table, sat down and spread out their lunch.

Tom looked around and the people wandering by. “We should do this more often, both here and back home.”

“Not so many people to watch at The Glen though,” Tori mused.

Tom looked across the table at her, noticing a far away look in her eyes. Reaching across, he touched her hand to gain her attention. “What’s wrong, sweetheart?”

Tori looked into his eyes and smiled slightly. “Nothing, Tom, honestly.”

Tom stood and moved round to sit next to her, putting his arm around her waist. Placing a finger gently on her chin, he turned her face to his. “Tori, when we first got together, we promised never to keep anything from each other. I know you too well, Luv; I know when you’re holding back on me.”

He saw her eyes glisten with unshed tears and kissed her softly. “Tell me.”

Tori hugged Tom and grinned sheepishly. “I think I’m getting hormonal.”

Tom sat up and stared at her. “You mean you’re…”

“No, darling; I’m not, and I think that’s the problem. Everywhere I seem to look at home I either see little babies or pregnant ladies. I think I’m getting broody.”

Tom gave her a cuddle, “Do you think we’re ready for a little one?” he asked.

“I think I could be getting that way,” Tori replied.

“Well then, until you’re sure, we can certainly enjoy practising,” Tom grinned cheekily.
