“Interesting Turn of Events”
by Jo and Stacey
Sid enjoyed his long solitary walks for more than one reason. A man of his
great sensitivity needed time alone to think upon the great matters that only he
was capable of pondering. It also let him observe the happenings in the Glen
unseen and he needed to keep up on the comings and goings of the native
population and their simple deeds. Then, too, with so many personalities
programmed into him, so many minds he had to keep in check so the one that had
become true him might stay in complete control, he required long moments of
peace in order to keep his dominance, to maintain his reins on them.
Returning now to his home, he came to the door, rested and refreshed, only to
find his Katherine awaiting him... in boots. His lips twitched, then smiled.
God, what a mate he'd chosen! Sliding his hand around her small, naked waist, he
pulled her to his body, whispering in her ear, "You please me."
Kate trembled at his touch, feeling his hardness against her naked skin as he
held her close. "Anything to please my husband," she purred, then let out a
slight moan as his hands roamed her body. She wanted him, as she always seemed
to want him. "I'm glad you're home. I was getting quite lonely and bored here
all alone."
"Bored?" He smiled almost wickedly. "We can't have that, now can we?" Lifting
her in his arms, he carried her to a furry white rug, laying her down gently,
letting her lie there and watch as he slowly disrobed.
A broad smile spread across Kate's face as she watched Sid remove each
article of clothing and lay them gently and neatly on a nearby chair. His
firm, bulging muscles rippled with even his slightest movement, and Kate could
barely contain her want of him. He was teasing her; she knew it, taking his time
like this. Of course, that was part of the game, one he had played with her from
the very first time they met. She loved it, of course, but in the back of her
mind she often couldn't help but wonder if there was more... more to them than
just the incredible sex they shared.
He stood there, towering over her, his wanting of her plainly revealed. Then he
knelt beside her, making love to her in creatively different ways. Finally he
lay beside her, propped on his elbow, looking into her face. She was sexually
satisfied, he could easily see that, but there was something... else...
lingering in her eyes.
"Tell me, Katherine, what it is you are thinking. Tell me truthfully."
She wanted to tell him, but how? And how would he... react? This somehow
frightened her, the not knowing. Finally, she opened her mouth, her lower lip
quivering a bit as she spoke, "It's just... well... I sometimes can't help but
wonder, Sid... while you're out, on one of your daily walks... if I might be
able to go off for a walk, too? Either with you, or possibly... into town? Maybe
even meet some of our neighbors. I'm just so... well, lonely and bored here
alone. Other than you, I don't really have any friends. I miss that."
He didn't want to explain why he needed solitude on his walks, so he looked at
her and suggested, "What about Ivy? She's always seemed to me one of the
nicer of the villagers. Perhaps tomorrow you might give her a call, suggest
something that would please you?"
"You... don't mind, then, that I hang out with a friend?" she asked, quite
pleased that he didn't seem to be upset about her request. "Ivy... yes, she does
seem quite nice. I'll do that. Thanks, Sid, for... understanding." Kate smiled,
still deep in thought about what she was going to ask next. "I was also,
wondering... um... well, we never have discussed it, but...what do you think
about having... babies?"
"Babies? You mean...little humans?" He'd hoped she'd forget about such
things. "I...I...yes, think it would be fine for you to make some friends,
female friends, here in the village." He was trying to distract her. "You have,
you know, a limitless amount of money at your disposal. Perhaps you could form
some sort of... of... committee with some of the other women and do... do...
good things, things that would make the villagers feel kindly toward you?
Why don't you try to think of some ideas for that? You have my blessing to do
whatever you like with that. Anything. Anything at all."
Kate was momentarily distracted by Sid, however, not in the manner he had
hoped. "You...you think people here...really don't like me?" she asked, nearly
broken hearted at the idea. She figured Colin might have turned a few people
against her, and well, others, as Sid had said before, were probably just
jealous and that's why they weren't too friendly towards her. "I... um... I
guess I could do something of the sort. I like photography; maybe I could start
a class? But if people don't like me, well, why would they want to join?"
"I don't think it's that they dislike you, Katherine. They just don't really
know you, not like I do. Maybe before you start a class, you could establish
yourself as a photographer. You know, take some really great pictures of the
Glen, the area around it, the people. Perhaps even have a small show with them
where people could come and see you work, buy them if they like. Maybe then
they'd be interested in coming to class." He smiled encouragingly, trying
to keep her off the baby topic. "And that would be a reason for you to be out
and about, taking pictures for that. Maybe the inn or the bank, places like
that, might want to hang some of your work, especially if it's local, if it
involves things they care about. What do you think? Would you like to do that?
We can get you the best photographic equipment that's out there. Wouldn't that
be nice?"
Kate thought about what he was suggesting, liked the sound of it. "Sid,
that's a brilliant idea!" she told him, wrapping her arms around him and hugging
him tightly. "Not sure why I haven't thought of that before. Yes! I could do
that. And, maybe, sometime, I could go out on a walk with you, take some piccies
along the way? Oh! And... if or when we do start a family, this is something I
could still do while staying here with the baby. Which reminds me..." she
suddenly recalled Sid's earlier comment, "you never did answer my question...
what would you say if I were already pregnant?"
What he'd say was 'Who is the goddammed father!' His mind swirled back
to Colin. Surely the man hadn't got Katherine pregnant
before Sid had taken her away? He looked at her oddly, "Are you?"
"I... um... well, yes, I think I am, actually, though I haven't been to the
clinic yet to confirm," she replied, hesitantly. "You... um... aren't upset by
this, are you? I know we hadn't discussed it, and I thought, well, I thought I
was being careful, but with all the love making we do, it was bound to happen...
eventually."
Slowly his tongue moved over his lower lip. His mind was the exact opposite,
however, racing with thoughts. He knew she'd been with no man other than himself
since they'd been together. He, of course, satisfied her completely and,
besides, there wasn't enough left of her after all their repeated times to have
anything to give to another even if she'd been so inclined. But she would not
have been inclined because, well, she had him, did she not? This had to be
Colin's whelp. What did he want to do about it? Did it matter? She wanted
a child and he knew she would continue wanting one no matter how many
distractions he thought up for her. This could solve that problem handily.
He closed his eyes, trying to decide, aware of her anxious breathing beside him.
It wasn't that he wanted the mess of a child, perish the thought, but the simple
knowing that he had Colin's kid under his roof, that it would call him Dad,
could be amusing. There was, indeed, a certain satisfaction in the thought. He
smiled and opened his eyes.
"I...I'm to be a father?" he said as though he were astounded by the fact. Then
he began to kiss her, which of course, roused him again and he had to finish
that before she could even speak in reply.
When she could get hold of her breathing again, Kate looked up at Sid and
smiled widely, "So, I take it you're pleased with the news, then?" She'd hoped
he would be, though clearly this wasn't something either of them had planned.
"I am pleased," he smiled. Shit! Her belly would get big and he wouldn't be able to make love to her day and night as he needed to. What would he do then? Well, he'd come up with something. "Very pleased," he added. He hoped it would be a son. Raising another man's son was far more satisfactory than a mere girlchild. But if Katherine were going to be getting big and he couldn't do with her as he pleased, he wasn't going to waste the perfectly good now. His hand slid up her thigh. "And there are other ways you may please me as well," he murmured, burying his face between her breasts, making her gasp.
