Angel Part 2

I'll have the same. Cort couldn't help but grin when he thought about that poor waitress loaded down with a trayful of food. There was a table full of truckers sitting beside them eyeing the tray and then they busted out laughing when they realized all that food was for the Angel and the half drowned Cowboy. Sweet Jesus! What had she called those monster burgers? Billy Burgers....no it was Billy Boys. Lord it had to be a mistake.

"Could I get some extra mayonnaise please ma'am?" the Angel asked sweetly. Cort rubbed his hand over his face. Nope, no mistake. She couldn't have known or if she did, she must've thought he hadn't eaten in a week. Cort bowed his head and asked God to bless his food and the Angel. When he raised his eyes, he caught her staring at him.

"Is there a problem with me saying grace?"

The Angel smiled, "No...I just didn't expect it. It was nice."

Cort bit into the Billy Burger and thought he'd died and went to Heaven. He caught her watching him, "I can't help it...I always get a kick outta watchin' people when they get their first taste. It's like Heaven ain't it?" Scarlet grinned.

Cort swallowed, "Yes ma'am it sure is. Ya better eat yours before it gets cold."

Cort watched as she cut her burger in to and proceeded to lather it with more miracle whip. He'd never seen a woman enjoy her food more or be more particular about how she ate. Angel ate everything separate, burger, then onion rings and then the shake. When they had finished Scarlet still had a burger and half the onion rings. The waitress came by the table with a to go box and a large coffee. "You come back again Scarlet. You too Mister." Scarlet handed her some bills, "Keep the change Mary. Spend it on those babies."

They headed out the door and sitting on the bottom step, "Mr. Joe...I was wondering if you would be around tonight." Scarlet handed him the box and the coffee. "You doin' all right? Stayin' warm?" The old man's face broke into a grin and he nodded at all her questions. "You take care ya hear?" Scarlet kissed him on his grizzled cheek, slipped some money in his pocket and headed toward her car. Cort watched the old man for a moment as he sat down at one of the outside tables to eat and then followed her to the car. He raised an eyebrow at her as he crawled into the car. "What?" she asked. "He's just a little old man that needs some love. Everybody needs love." she said defensively.

"You know he might use that money ya gave him to buy booze don't ya darlin'?"

"And he might use it to get a warm place to sleep for the night! Besides it's only money and it is my money."

"Yes ma'am that it is." Cort realized quick he'd touched a sore spot with her and he hadn't meant to offend her. He was just stating a fact.

Scarlet sat there for a minute and then started the car, "You look pretty done in, I know a place." She headed down the highway and didn't speak again. She pulled into the driveway of a nice hotel, and went inside. She came out with a room key and drove down to the room. "Come on," she grabbed her purse and keys and headed for the door, "Its not the Plaza but its clean and has cable." She looked over her shoulder at Cort, "Don't worry Cowboy, I promised not to bite remember?" Cort followed her inside and closed the door, watching as she checked out the room, making sure everything was clean. "Here ya go," Scarlet handed him the key, "Why don't you take a nice hot shower and get a good night's sleep. Things will look better in the morning." She headed for the door, "Night Cowboy."

"Wait!!" Cort grabbed her arm, "Why?"

"Everybody needs love Cowboy...I told you that." Scarlet touched his cheek, "You take care ya hear?"

She headed out the door, got in her car and roared off in the darkness. Cort closed the door and headed for the shower. It was Heaven...the hot water sluicing over him, being able to wash his hair with something other than a bar of soap. Yep this was Heaven all right. He finally crawled out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his middle stepping back into his room and coming up short. Standing against the door, his Angel shrugged, "I couldn't go home to an empty house again Cowboy. I guess I need ..."

Cort walked over to her, putting his hands flat on door on either side of her head, "What do you need?" he spoke softly afraid of spooking her.

"You." Just that one word and yet it meant everything to Cort and he wasn't sure why. He leaned in and gently rubbed his lips over hers. It was Heaven. It was Hell. He groaned and knew then that he wouldn't stop until he had her in that bed under him, "Angel, you better run cause...."

"I don't want to run...love me Cowboy. Just for tonight." She wrapped her arms around his waist and pulled him closer, going up on her tiptoes to fit their bodies together. Cort knew he was lost. He picked her up and carried her to the bed, laying her gently in the center and following her down.

"The light."

"I want to see ya darlin'," and Cort looked his fill as he slowly stripped off her clothing. Everything about her was perfect, he groaned when he got a peek at her underwear and then again when he got it off of her. He loved his Angel keeping her on fire as he loved her breasts and then slid down her body."

"No...don't...oh!" Cort grinned she tried to stop him and then she caught fire again and bucked her hips. "Not yet Darlin'." He loved her until she was begging him. He crawled back up her body and with one stroke completely filled her. "Damn!" Cort struggled to maintain control, "Darlin you should've....why didn't you tell me?"

"Would you have made love to me?" she looked up at him with those big brown eyes.

"NO!...Yes!....Hell I don't know but I would've been more gentle with you. No don't move." He closed his eyes and shuddered as she moved her hips. It was over, Cort was gonna have her no matter what. He couldn't stop and the way she was moaning just fired him up more. There was thunder and lightening, he would swear to it. It was magic that night. All night long he loved her, couldn't get enough of her. Even when they would drop off to sleep, he couldn't let her go, wrapping his body around her. She gave him hope, a dream and he thought he was giving her what she needed too. When he woke up the next morning she was gone, nothing left of her but her scent on the sheets, a note and money on the dresser.

So we found this hotel,
It was a place I knew well
We made magic that night.
Oh, he did everything right
He brought the woman out of me,
So many times, easily
And in the morning when he woke all
I left him was a note
I told him
I am the flower you are the seed
We walked in the garden
We planted a tree
Don't try to find me,
Please don't you dare
Just live in my memory,
Youll always be there

The money and note he swept off the dresser in a fit of anger. He took a shower, got dressed and by that time he'd cooled off enough to read the note. Don't try to find me please don't you dare "Sorry Darlin, it just don't work that way." He grabbed up the money and placed a collect phone call. "John, yeah its me and no I don't need a lecture. I need a ride and some information. Now! I'm at..." he gave him the name of the hotel and sat back and waited. When the car arrived Cort walked out carrying the sheets, the note and the money. "I need the best PI that we have on payroll. I need to find an Angel." John looked at Cort "You sure Boss?"

"Dammit John...."

"Okay..okay Boss." John got on his cell phone and called a number, gave him what little information Cort had and hung up. "He said its not gonna be easy Boss, Ya don't even know her name."

"Find her."

And find her they did but by that time she was headed for a place called Nana Glen. Cort ordered his private jet and managed to get there in time to watch her move into her house. Cort planned on surprising Scarlet but he got surprised too, when he saw her little belly. A baby. Cort opened his eyes and looked into big brown ones spitting fire.

"Why are you still here?"
