“Destiny Waits”

Zack walked out of the tavern and watched as Destiny got into her car and began to drive away. Thinking quickly, he ran after her and stood in front of it, causing her to slam on the brakes.

“Goddammit, Grant!” she shouted at him through her open window. “What do you think you’re doing?”

“I can’t let you go... not this time, not this way,” he said simply, placing his hands on the hood of her car. “

“If you don’t get out of my way in the next 10 seconds, I’m going to have to drive through you. Don’t think I won’t,” she told him, sternly.

“No you won’t,” he told her, looking her in the eye.

She gave the engine a rev, causing dust to fly up all around him. “Five seconds, Grant!”

He continued to look intensely into her eyes, as he stood his ground.

“Four, three, two...” she counted down, then gritted her teeth and slammed her foot on the gas peddle.

Zack jumped out of the way just in the nick of time, then grabbed hold of the driver’s side door as she drove past, and climbed in through the open window, his feet dangling momentarily outside of the car.

Destiny slammed on the brakes again, sending Zack slamming into the dash board, his head just missing the windshield. “Shit, Grant! What the fuck?” she yelled at him, as he grabbed hold of the gearshift, put the car into park and then pulled the keys in the ignition.

Destiny reached for her keys, but Zack shoved them down into the front pocket of his pants and smiled at her.

“Unbelievable,” she said, then jumped out of the driver’s side and slammed the door.

Zack jumped out of the car and followed her as she stomped off down the road. “Destiny! Destiny! Wait!” he called after her, grabbing her arm and spinning her around.

She glared at him, angrily, tears filling her eyes, then grabbed hold of his shoulders, pulled him close, and kissed him on the lips.
