“Is it So?”
Colin heard the phone click and was left with the familiar sound of the dial
tone. He clutched the receiver to his chin for a moment, wondering what had just
happened. Why did Kate think it so urgent to call him... wake him up... just to
tell him that he wasn’t the father of her child? Hell, hadn’t she and Sid made
that clear the day before when he’d first found out she was pregnant?
“Crazy
fuckin’ sheilas... all of ‘em,” Colin mumbled to himself as he place the phone
back in its cradle on the bedside table and laid back on his pillow.
He hadn’t seen her or even been with her all the time she’d been living with
Sid. How could he possibly ever think he could be ... no. No. Like she said, Sid
was the father. He was her husband, after all.
Colin ran his hand across his chin, remembering the last time he had in fact
been with Kate... the morning before she left him. Yeah, that was it... they’d
done it twice that morning... he smiled, remembering the softness of her skin
against his, the sweet taste of her lips...
Christ, how long had that been? He mentally counted back the weeks... three
months. Yeah, that was right... three months it had been.
Three months...? She’d said before... yesterday... that she was
nearly 3 months along. If that were so... it was in fact possible... maybe even
probable... that he...
“Oh shit!” he blurted out, jumping up bolt right in his bed.
