Nearly Forgotten Plans”

Arthur rolled out of bed – literally – and opened his eyes. He couldn’t for the life of him figure out how he’d gotten home from the bar or managed to carry himself all the way up the stairs of the boarding house to his room, but here he sat...er... lay.

He managed to pull up off the floor and sat on the edge of the bed, steadying himself a bit before he attempted to stand. He realized he was still dressed in the clothes he’d been wearing the night before and the corners of his mouth turned up into a bit of a smile. Yes, it had been a ripper of a time out with the boys... something Arthur wasn’t typically one to partake in. This time, however, things had seemed to go swimmingly for the lad and he’d even ended up meeting a nice, pretty young girl – Lila – thanks to his good mate, Alex, setting him up with her there.

He reached into his pocket and let out a sigh of relief as he pulled out the little slip of paper with Lila’s number on it. She’d given it to him last night and said for him to call her in a day or two so they could set up a date for this weekend. He smiled, lightly running the tips of his fingers across her name scrawled across the slip of paper, thinking about the next time he’d see her.

Suddenly, he remembered why he’d been at the bar last night to begin with – Andy’s stag party! Oh crikey! Today was Andy and Lucy’s wedding! He’d nearly forgotten all about it! He quickly looked at the bedside clock – 9:30am... he still had time to clean himself up and get over to the church before the service started.

As he went about getting ready, Arthur wondered dreamily to himself if he may one day see his own wedding... maybe, if things went swimmingly as he hoped they would... sharing it with Lila.
