"Nice View"
Abby sat in her room and flicking through a paperback she had been reading and then tossed it aside on the bed. "Nice way to spend a Friday night, eh, Abby girl?" she sighed to herself, as she stood up and stretched her legs.
She’d been in town for only a day and was already starting to go a bit stir-crazy cooped up in her room by herself. Her stomach suddenly growled loudly and she looked at her watch and frowned, "Hmm...Nearly 8pm already? Guess I better go downstairs and get a bite to eat."
Abby did a quick glance in the mirror, "Well, at least I won’t scare any of the other guests," she chuckled, mussing her hair a bit before heading out the door and down the stairs.
The tavern was a bit full this evening, but she managed to find a small table in the corner and had a seat. "Must be a sports game or stag party," Abby mused to herself, noticing how many attractive young men were gathered around at the bar. She watched as several more men joined the group already milling about and ordering drinks. "Definitely a stag party," she giggled to herself, noticing how several of the men seemed to be teasing one of the younger blokes and cheering him on.
Just then, another man joined the group, which really seemed to surprise his friends. "Oh now...who’s he?" she wondered, as she watched him saunter up to the bar and order a beer. He was dressed in faded jeans and a t-shirt, which really showed off his bulging shoulders and biceps.
About that time, Andy came up to take her order. "What can I get you?" he asked, smiling warmly at her.
"Shrimp salad, please," she replied, and then pointing towards the man at the bar, added, "and one of THOSE."
Andy giggled. "Ah, I see you’ve noticed our resident mechanic, Colin O’Brian. Nice bloke. Good guy."
Abby smiled, still watching Colin at the bar as he chatted with an older man sitting next to him. "Please tell me he’s single," she replied, hoping her luck would hold out.
"Best I can say for now is that he may or may not have a girlfriend...kinda up in the air for now, I reckon, after what happened the other night at the Australia Day celebration," replied Andy, with a chuckle.
Abby puffed out her lips in a pout and sighed, "Ah, well, the good ones are always taken, just my luck. But...if he’s here alone, that does sound...promising...hmmm...."
Andy chuckled, walked back to the bar with her order.
"Ah, well...if nothing else, this sure beats sitting alone up in my room all night. Better view, too," she thought to herself, watching as Colin followed the others out of the tavern, and flashing him a smile as he passed by her table. "Yep, definitely a better view."
