“Pieces in Place”
After walking Abby to work, Dwayne decided to have a bit of a tour of the
area. He called on a local realtor he’d contacted a week earlier, went with her
to look at some property she said he might be interested in buying. “Can’t go on
living in the boarding house once the wife and I have renewed our vows,” he
thought to himself, as he drove up to the huge mansion that overlooked a small,
private beach.
He couldn’t help but smile to himself, thinking about how simple it was to
get Abby back. He hadn’t even had to rough up that dumb grease-monkey boyfriend
of hers, either – seems he managed to do that all by himself. Pathetic fool! All
the pieces were fitting nicely into place – just as he’d planned. Only thing
left now was to get the reverend lined up, and put a deposit down for the
reception. Easy-peasy, as his mama always said.
After about 4 hours and a dozen or so houses later, Dwayne finally found the one – a huge estate with a guest house, pool, good-sized barn and loads of acreage – perfect spread for him and Abby to share.

Papers signed and deposit paid, he headed back to town to meet up with his wife and surprise her with the news.
