“Start of Something New?”
(*Note to readers: the following chapter
takes place a few hours after “Andy’s Last Shout”)
“It
wasn’t a dream,” Ami said, letting out a happy sigh as she opened her eyes and
found herself staring up at Colin’s smiling face.
“Well,
it was for me,” Colin smirked, pressing his lips gently against the bare skin of
her shoulder and lightly planting a kiss, “a dream come true, you are.”
It was the wee hours of the morning after his night out with his mates.
They’d thrown Andy a stag party, where he’d had the good fortune to meet Ami. He
couldn’t exactly recall all the details that surrounded the meeting, or how
they’d gotten home, for that matter, but would never forget the night that’d
just spent in bed together.
“You’re
not so bad yourself,” Ami smiled up at him. “Actually, far from it. Remind me to
thank that friend of yours when I get the chance... Alex...for introducing us.”
Ah, so Ross had set them up, then? Well, well, Alex was turning out to be
quite the friend. “Yeah, I’ll do that,” Colin told her, running his hand through
her soft, tangled mass of auburn hair.
“I
should get home so I can pick out something to wear for the wedding,” she told
him, absently running her fingertips over his bare chest.
Colin’s smile faded. “Wedding?” he asked, his eyebrows raised. He swallowed
hard. Shit. He had had a good time and all but he hadn’t gone and done something
as stupid as...propose, had he?
“Yeah,”
she giggled, realizing he had forgotten about asking her. “Last night, at your
friend’s stag party? You asked if I wanted to attend his wedding this morning
with you. It’s still cool, isn’t it... that I go with you?”
Colin let out a sigh of relief. “Yeah, yeah, of course it is, luv. Phew!
Thought I’d gone and...nevermind.” He sat up, stretched. His head was pounding
and his mouth was dry, and the loo was calling.
“Shower
first?” he asked, slipping out of bed and heading off to relieve himself. “Then
I’ll drive you to your house to change. Wedding isn’t for a few hours... during
church services.”
“A
shower sounds won-der-ful,” Ami sang, watching and admiring Colin’s muscular,
naked form as he padded back across the room towards her.
“What?”
he chuckled, nervously, as he caught her staring at him.
“Not
shy, are you then?” she teased.
“No,
should I be?”
“No, no... not one bit,” she cooed, sitting up taking his hand as he led her into the shower, a smile spread across her face.
