"What Just Happened?"
Colin lay in bed, struggling to open his eyes. He was still feeling the effects of all the alcohol he had consumed throughout the night; his head and body ached and the whole room seemed to be spinning. Finally, after a few moments, he was able to make out the curvy form of a woman laying in bed next to him, the warmth radiating off her stirred something inside him and he rolled over on his side – nuzzling up next to her. "Kate," his groggy mind told him, and he softly put his lips to his neck, slowly kissing down the length of it.
"Mmm....," she moaned, then scooted farther back against his body,
"I wasn’t sure if you’d be in any condition for this after last night," she purred, breathlessly, reaching behind her and grabbing hold of him.
Colin’s body immediately reacted to her touch and he began breathing harder and faster as he caressed her body. "Oh, Kate," he moaned. Filled with want and hunger, he quickly slid inside her, their bodies moving in rhythm, becoming one, as they made love. Afterwards, they lay together, arms and legs tangled together on the bed, completely and utterly spent.
"Wow!" Cara giggled, planting a kiss right on Colin’s lips. "That was amazing! Can we do it again? Only, my name is Cara, not Kate."
Colin’s eyes flew open with a realization of what had just happened and he turned to look around the room and then the woman lying in bed next to him. "Oh...fuck," he mumbled to himself, and then quickly sat up. Big mistake. His head was throbbing and the room began to spin, forcing him to lie back down.
"What’s wrong, baby?" Cara asked, confused as to why Colin was reacting the way he was. "Did I say something wrong?"
Colin slapped his hand over his eyes and let out a sigh. "No," he replied, softly. "No. It’s not you, it’s just...what the fuck happened last night? Where am I?"
The last he had remembered, he was at the bar...with the other blokes...drinking. Yeah, there had been a LOT of drinking. Flashes from the night before slowly began to creep into mind, and he vaguely recalled chatting with Cara and her friends were all there, too. Had there been some sort of...celebration? His head really hurt and he didn’t want to think about it anymore, instead Colin squeezed his eyes shut, attempting to block everything out. What had he just done? How could he have mistaken her for Kate?
Kate. Well, not that it mattered anymore, he guessed, since Kate was no longer a part of his life. Colin ran his hands down his face and held them there over his bloodshot eyes. Kate was with Sid now, so why the hell should he feel guilty for being with another woman?
"Fuck it," he thought to himself, then opened his eyes and rolled over towards Cara and flashed her a grin, "Ready to go again?"
A broad smile spread across Cara’s face and she nodded her approval. Taking her in his arms, he loved her again, slowly, gently, completely, until all thoughts of Kate were completely gone from his mind.
Two hours later, Colin awoke and managed to climb out of bed and stumble into the shower. His initial thought had been to get the hell outta there as quickly as possible, but opted to shower first in the hopes that the water would help revive him a bit before he tried to make his way home. Cara was still fast asleep. Damn, he’d have to wake her, he reckoned...it would only be right.
"Love," he said softly into her ear, as he bent over her sleeping form on the bed, "I’ve got to go now."
"Hmm?" she answered, groggily, her eyes fluttering open a crack.
"I didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye."
"Oh, right," she said, sitting up and running a hand through her tangled mass of hair. "I’d love to see you again. Maybe we could get together for dinner soon?"
Colin nodded, "Umm...yeah. Yeah, maybe we can."
Cara leaned over in bed, reached for her purse on the floor. "Wait, I have a pen and paper in here...somewhere," she told him, rummaging through it. "We can exchange phone numbers...so you can call me and we can get together again."
This was getting a bit more involved than Colin had counted on. She was a nice girl, he supposed, pretty face, great in bed, but...was he ready for another relationship so soon? When she handed him her number he thought, what the hell, and quickly scrawled his digits on the scrap of paper she handed him and put it in her hand. He didn’t like lying to anyone, but he really didn’t feel like getting into an explanation with her about why he wasn’t in the market for another girlfriend anytime soon. His head hurt and he just really wanted to get the hell outta there and back to his own house.
"Thanks for...everything," he told Cara, kissing her on the lips, then stood and headed for the door. "See ya around."
"Call me!" was the last he heard her say as he shut the door behind him and quickly ran down the stairs and out the door, where he managed to hail a cab to take him home.
