That’s Miss Peeg, Thank You!
By Atonia
The tiny mini crawled up the winding road, its driver hunched over the steering wheel peering through her glasses.
“I think we’re here Amanda, Millie’s Place, oh dear there’s nowhere to park.”
“It looks like they’re having a fete of some kind,” Amanda sitting up and looking out the front window.
“Maybe it’s for us eh?” she said and smiled
“There, Auntie can you squeeze in there.”
Winifred Peeg did squeeze her mini into a parking place and unfolded her tall thin frame from the ridiculously small car.
“Shall I bring in the bags?” asked Amanda stepping out of the car.
“No, child wait a bit and let’s see what’s on.” Winnie stepped out to the boarding house carrying her large handbag with Amanda in tow.
Entering the door of the boarding house there was no one about so she walked through to the pub and eating area, it was also empty. “looks like everyone is outside.” She pursed her lips
“Oh hello are you looking for someone?” asked the tall distinguished silvered haired man coming from the restroom area.
“Lodging, kind sir.”
“Excuse me?” he raised his brows
“Lodging…one has reservations.” She straightened up looking him in the eye.
“Oh…well I should get Steve for you…there’s a wedding…my daughter was married today.” He smiled slightly
“Ah that’s what it is,” she turned to her niece, “wasn’t for us after all.”
“Em…who shall I say is here?” asked Michael Stanley
“Winnie Peeg, that’s Miss Peeg thank you.” She said smartly.
