Wedding Plans

Travis hung up the phone and bounced a pen on his desk for a moment he’d just finalized the plans for their honeymoon, only problem was they weren’t married. He went looking for Toni through the house and found her outside with Cole in his stroller.

"Well don’t you two make a pretty picture?" He came over and kissed her cheek.

"Hey honey, what’s up?"

"Something got to be up?" he sat down on the grass beside her.

"No but you kinda came out here with a purpose…like."

He pulled Cole out of his stroller and lay back in the grass with the baby on his chest. "I’ve come to ask you to marry me."

"You already did that."

"Yeah I know, but at the time we were both married to other people, now we’re not so it’s time to get serious about it. Do you want a big to do or something quiet?"

"Something quiet…"

"I kinda thought that, we’ve both had the big show. Do you want to plan it?"

"Why do I think you already have?" she lay down beside him resting on her arms.

"Nothing that can’t be undone, honey this is for both of us. I thought we might get married here at Glenridge with just our families present."

"I’d like that, make it casual, no fuss…"

"You can have a dress if you want to; it doesn’t have to be that casual."

"I’d like a dress but not a wedding dress, I’ve had that."

"Whatever you want; buy it or have it made. You’ve got two weeks…"

"What?"

"Two weeks, some time or another in the next two weeks we’re getting married because I’ve already engaged a crew for the boat. You and I are going to sail away."

"What about Cole?"

"He’s got enough people around here to look after his needs; we ain’t taking him on our honeymoon."

"Travis that’s…poor little fella…" she put her hand on Cole’s back, he was about to go to sleep on Travis’s chest.

"Look at this way, honey after we satisfy each other’s needs we get a whole night’s sleep, I mean until way after the sun wakes up."

"Sleep-all night uninterrupted sleep you sure know how to sweet talk a girl."

"I got all the right moves…is he asleep?"

"Yeah, he’s out."

"Let’s wake him up…" Travis grinned, "payback…"

"No-o…two weeks"

"Um hm two weeks until the boat leaves; you pick a day I’ll find somebody to marry us."

"We have to have a license."

"I’ve had it for a month waiting on your divorce to be final."

"I’ll call Jude, he and Mum are still in Sydney I think they’ll wait around a week. Saturday a week."

"Okay…consider it done." Travis raised his head looking down at the dark haired baby on his chest, "You want to um pick him up?"

Toni grinned and got up on her knees, "No, I’m going to make phone calls, you ah just relax there in the grass he’ll be awake in about a half hour or so."

He gave her a look, "there’s probably ants, bugs, insects, biting things here in the grass…"

"Well, make sure they don’t crawl up on Cole." She gave him a quick kiss and left him there in the grass with his son asleep on top of him.
