Tee and Uncle Travis
Tee had his bath in his own bathroom and put on the pajamas lying on his bed. He had a lot to think about tonight. His first day on the ranch and his grandparents and he had a puppy. He was thinking about the puppy when Travis knocked and opened his door.
Tee sat up in bed, "Uncle Travis?"
"I just wanted to say goodnight Tee, hope you enjoyed yourself today?" Travis was smiling.
"Yes sir I did…what would be a good name for the puppy…I can’t think of one."
"Oh I don’t know Tee…what comes to mind?"
"I had a buddy one time that had a dog his name was Snickers."
"Snickers?"
"Yeah…that’s a candy bar in the States."
"I guess you can name him whatever you want to…a candy bar." Travis raised his brows.
"Well maybe not he’s an Australian dog he probably wouldn’t want to be named after a candy bar."
"You’ll think of something it’ll be awhile before he will answer to anything anyway." Travis bent over and kissed him on the forehead and mussed his hair, "get a good night’s sleep Tee."
Tee thought of all the good things that had happened since he came to Australia his uncle Travis was the best. He liked Miss Jan too she always smelled good and liked hugs. His Granddad had put him up on a horse…he’d never been on a horse before and now he was going to learn to ride one. His Gramma gave him treats from the kitchen…secret treats she said, Tee smiled what was so secret about a cookie?
He turned over in his big bed, it was almost too good to be true, like a trip to Disney World or something, and although he’d never been there it was all over TV. He breathed in the smell of his clean sheets and tried not to think about where he’d been a week ago. He never had to go back there this was his home now and he had Uncle Travis.
Travis quietly closed Tee’s bedroom door and walked down the hallway to his own room where Jan awaited him. It was only after Travis’s door closed that Kyle quietly closed his door and got ready for bed.
Jan was hanging up the jacket she’d worn that day and Travis walked over putting his arms around her waist, "Jan that closet looks awfully empty on your side I want you to go shopping and fill it up I want it to look like you live here."
Jan turned in his arms and met his eyes and his lips.
