You’ve Got Till Saturday
Travis rested his head against the padded headboard of his bed, "Hiya Dad how’s Tee?"
"Oh Tee’s okay keeping him busy."
"Good this will be his last week I’ve got him registered at Nana Glen Public School, he starts on Monday."
"I think he’s looking forward to school…ah had a bit of a problem last night somebody let all the calves out."
"Is that right…find ‘em"
"The cows or the mischief maker? Yeah we got the calves back in the pens."
"Good…the reason I’m callin’ Dad is to let you know Jan and I are getting married Saturday at seven. I’d like you and Mum and Tee to be there."
"That’s kind of quick Travis where’s this wedding to take place?"
"The Old English Church you know where that is…tell Mum to take Tee to Coffs and get him outfitted…you and Mum too okay?"
"Well sure we can do that…you’re really getting married?"
"Yes Dad we are."
"Well I’m happy for you Travis I think Jan’s a good woman."
"I appreciate that…I’m at the apartment in Sydney if you need me…don’t need me Dad…just handle it," he laughed.
"I will Travis," Bill hung up the phone and rubbed his face he’d have to find Sarah and tell her.
"He’s what?" Sarah’s voice rose.
"On Saturday at seven…no other particulars than what I’ve told you." Bill said
"But why all of a sudden…surely he wasn’t serious Bill you’ve misunderstood him."
"He’s serious…Travis knows what he’s about Sarah. He wants us to go to Coffs and get outfitted…Tee too."
"Well…on Saturday…this Saturday…I can’t possibly…"
"I expect you had better find a way to get it done Sarah. He’s building us a house of our own and taking care of whatever we need. Now if you want to we can go back to Sydney and live in that bungalow and get by on our own. He’s doing right by us in my opinion…you don’t want to lose him Sarah."
Sarah walked across the lounge and rested her head on the mantle, "no I don’t want to lose him Bill…but I’ve already lost him to Jan."
"You’re talking rubbish you’re his mother for God’s sake…act like it and stop this foolishness. He’s a grown man Sarah. This has got to stop and stop now."
Sarah turned, "yes…I know Bill…I’ve got to accept it…just give me a little time."
"You’ve got till Saturday." Bill turned and went
back outside.
