Mickela & Egan
Sitting across the table from Egan, Mickela is lost in thought. The case is a large part of what occupied her mind. It wasn't the size or the complexity of the case; Mickela had handled larger and more complex cases in her years as a detective.
Mickela cut her burger in half then picked it up for a bite. She looked at Egan. Maybe things were too complex. The case had brought her here to Australia, and right to Egan. He was a good man. She hadn't seen much in the way of drama in his life. Not until she showed up on his doorstep. What would he want with her and the dangerous aspects of her job?
For the first time, Mickela really wasn't looking forward to going back to New York. She liked the sense of calm she felt when Egan was near. She'd been hoping to hold onto that. She gave him a soft grin. "Did you find everything you needed in town?"
Egan had watched her lost in her thoughts. He wondered if any were of him. For the first time Egan wanted someone around, that someone was Mickela. He just had to figure out how to do that. Giving her a grin back he nodded. "Yeah, I managed to find everything. What about your visit to the center did you get everything cleared up?"
What he really meant was do you have to go back to New York.
She nodded. For the second time, Mickela had to tell Egan she was leaving. "Everything cleared up with the curator. It turns out that Abagail Hennessey is or was Angela Hudson. She is the artist responsible for the reproduction that's now being held at the Greenstone Gallery. I'll have to take the painting back to New York as evidence then finish building my case against Donovan Laseter."
He knew it was coming, there it was. "So the curator is innocent then." He takes a sip of his drink and gives her a soft smile. "When do you have to go back?"
As soon as I can arrange for a flight."
Egan nodded already feeling the loss of her. He didn't understand this particular desire to have her close like this it wasn't usually in his nature. But then Mickela was different. Reaching into his pocket he smiled softly and slid a white box across the table. "I suppose then I should give you this in case there's not time later. I know you don't wear a lot of jewelry but I wanted you to have something to remind you of your time at the house. With me."
Mickela smiled softly, surprised by his thoughtfulness. Her last gift was a set of furry handcuffs. A gag gift for her birthday from the other detectives.
She opened the box and smiled as she ran her fingers over the pin a silver carving of two horses. It reminded her of sitting with Egan while they watched the wild horses run over the hill near his cabin. Mickela closed the box and leaned over to kiss him softly. "Thank you."

The touch of her soft lips warmed his heart. Egan took her hand and held it while they finished their meal. If only there was a way for her to stay. She was a detective and New York held more of what she needed than his quiet little house in the hills.
When they returned home Egan made them coffee and they sat curled on the sofa his fingers lazily tracing up and down her arm. He had seen decorations and such for the holiday around town even the art center had been decorated. There was nothing here. What was the point he'd had no one to celebrate for or with. Until now. Egan had hoped she would be here for Christmas.
Taking a deep breath and smiling softly he glanced down at her. "The usual. Going out to the shack and gathering up some horses for auction. There's a big heard this year."
Combing his fingers though her hair he sighed softly tilting her lips up for him to kiss. Kissing her deeply then nuzzling her cheek. "One thing different will be wishing you were here with me."
She smiled softly. Mickela had thought about asking Egan to come to New York with her, but it sounded as though he'd be too busy with the horses.
Warmth coursed through her body as he nuzzled against her neck. The sound of his voice, his breath flowing over her skin, his hands caressing her...everything about him warmed her body, heart and soul.
Egan thought about New York it was winter there now. What would she look like standing in snow? The more his thoughts turned trying to picture her the more he realized he couldn't just let her go. Not yet. His hands caressed her needing to feel her silken skin. "Mic." Her name was all he could breath as he kissed her again pressing and passionate.
She moaned softly in response to his touch. Her hands curled through his hair. It could be and probably was the last time they would be together. Her emotions were mixed. Not thinking about the distance that would separate them later, she’d let herself fall in love with him. She wasn't sure how he felt in return. All she knew was that they were together now and she didn't want to let go.
Egan let his hands move over her body as they will. His heart beat faster as she responded to his touch. Suddenly it was all clear; he loved her. Not something fleeting or temporary he wanted her near always. Even if he had to go to bloody New York City to have it.
He slipped off her shirt and smoothed his hands over her skin. The sweet floral scent of her perfume filled his senses. Kissing along her shoulders and up her neck he cupped her face in his large work worn hands and looked into her eyes. "I'm in love with you, Mic." Then his lips captured hers showing her he meant those words.
Mickela's heart raced, pounded hard in her chest. He loved her. It was all she cared about. All she needed and wanted. Why should she keep finding reasons they couldn't be together?
She moved to straddle his lap. Her thighs pressed against his. She kissed down his neck as she unbuttoned his shirt then kissed further down over his chest as it was exposed to her. She kissed him deeply until they were both breathless. Resting her head against his, her trembling hand caressed his cheek. "I love you, Egan."
That was all he needed to hear. Egan's hands curled in her hair as he stole her breath in another kiss. Mic loved him. They would deal with particulars later right now he wanted to show her more of his love. He shrugged off the shirt and unfastened the clasp of her bra his hands smoothing over the soft exposed skin. Pressing her to him for a moment as he kissed down her throat then leaning her back to kiss down her chest to her breast.
Lingering there until he felt her breasts swell and her nipples turn to hard peaks that would bring a soft sound with every touch. Hands flow over her body to her pants he unfastens them sliding them over her hips to grip her ass. Egan lets her see the heat in his expression as he breathes into her ear. "So beautiful, love."
She smiled softly and turned to nibble his ear then kiss across the line of his jaw. A moan fell from her lips at the heat of his hands massaging her breasts. Desire spread through her as she arched against him, beyond thought, beyond reason, she loved him. Needed him.
Mickela kissed him deeply. She pulled gently on his bottom lip as she eased off his lap to stand in front of him. Her tongue moistened her lips as she slid her fingers into the lace of her panties. She pushed them over her hips. They slid over her thighs and down her legs to pool at her feet.
Leaning forward, she took his hands and pulled him to his feet. Her kisses were soft and lingering. Filled with desire and her love for him. Her lips brushed against his ear as her hands smoothed down his stomach. "Egan, I need you."
His body burned for her touch as her breath fell over his skin. Egan let his eyes caress her body as he unfastened his jeans and pushed them and his shorts over his hips. Moving to stand only a breath away from her the heat from their bodies mingling in the air between them. Egan caressed the back of his fingers over her shoulder down her body. "For the first time I need someone. That someone is you, Mic."
Kissing her deeply his lips caressing hers as his hands slide down her back to cup her ass and lift her to him. Egan joins their bodies taking her in one movement with a long moan against her throat. Standing there wrapped in her body the sunlight bathing her with a glow Egan begins to move pushing deep into her body.
She wrapped her arms around him and panted against his neck as they moved together. He held her tight, his fingers pressed hard into her flesh as he carried her to the bedroom.
In one movement as they fell to the bed, Mickela felt the softness of the blankets press against her back and Egan's hard body push deeper into hers. She gasped loudly. Her legs moved higher on his waist and her fingertips grazed down his back.
Groaning as her fingers sent a shiver of pleasure though him, Egan kissed her smothering their moans. Moving harder, deeper he found a place that took both their breaths. Concentrating there his hands caressed her and curled into her hair. He was claiming her; no matter what happened after this she was his.
Heat pooled in his body as his balls tightened. Moving more urgent with her Egan looked into her eyes letting her see his heart and how much she gave to him. He could feel her body pulsing around his she was close. Unable to hold back his body tensed and burst filling her as he called her name.
Pleasure rippled through her body. Heat turning to fire that spread and claimed all of her senses. Her legs tightened around him. Her hands tangled into his hair. Held tight to him. She whimpered and panted against his neck. Every inch of her lost in ecstasy. "Egan...I love you."
Holding on to her as tightly Egan felt the world set right. Rolling them keeping them joined he caressed her gently as their breathing settled back to normal. Smiling softly he kissed her. "I love you, Mic."
Her leg settled on his hip, her still pulsing body squeezed his. She caressed her hand over his shoulder and down his arm. She had to leave, there was no way around that. But maybe she didn't have to go by herself. Mickela looked into his eyes as her fingertips played through his hair. "Egan...come with me."
The thought of being in a big city with all the noise and people made him nervous. But Mic would be there, with her he could deal with anything. "I'll come with you, love." He smiled softly as he sighed her playing in his hair completely relaxing him. "I go wherever you are, Mic."
