Crossing the Pond
By Rose & Elise
Mickela & Egan
Egan woke with her in his arms; softly brushing her hair to side he softly kissed her. With a deep contented breath he smiled. For the first time maybe ever he didn't want to get up. Egan was comfortable to be right here with Mic. Soon though they would have to get on the plane to New York. Was he really going to that huge place? All the noise and the crowds.....She stirred in his arms and he knew it would be fine. They would be together. With a grin he placed kisses down her neck.
Mickela felt soft kisses pressed to neck. A strong arm wrapped around her waist. Her eyes blinked open and she looked up at him and smiled. Waking up to Egan was something she wanted every morning. Her voice was quiet and slightly hoarse from sleep. "Good morning."
He smiled looking down at her beautiful dark sleep filled eyes. "G'day love." Leaning down he kisses her softly then smiles and laughs as he tosses the blanket off them. "Last one in the shower makes brekkie."
She smiled and jumped up out of bed then jumped on his back. Her arms wrapped around his neck, she kissed his cheek. "If you can make it a good shower, I'll make breakfast."
Reaching around he grabs her legs and piggy backs her to the shower. "Hmm a challenge eh? I think I can manage to make it a good shower."
Setting her down long enough to run the water Egan turns kissing her holding her close. Still amazed at how she can love him. He lifts her carrying her into the shower. "Is your shower in New York big enough for two, love?"
She smiled at him. She'd never been so relaxed around anyone. Such a big city and her life had always seemed so small and compact. Just like her apartment. "It's not a huge place," She grinned. "But there's room for you."
Mickela closed her eyes and enjoyed the feel of Egan's hands soaping her body. His hand slipped between her thighs, bringing a gasp from her lips. When he lifted her legs around his waist, she wrapped her arms around his neck and let him press her to the shower wall. She felt his body aching, pulsing with hers. She fell apart in his arms. His body tightened around hers, filling her. She kissed him deeply until their bodies stilled.
Egan kissed along the pulse of her throat and smiled softly. He wanted this with her every day every moment of his life. Resting his head against hers, he sighed content. "Well Mic, does that qualify as a good shower?"
She smiled softly and kissed him. Mickela couldn't have imagined she would feel so content with someone. "Better than good."
After getting out of the shower, she dried off and walked up behind him as he was getting a shirt from the closet. She kissed him as she took it from his hands then slipped it on. "Thanks."
Laughing he tried to look cross but at the moment just couldn't manage it. Turning he buttoned the shirt down for her and rolled up the sleeves. "I think you'll pass muster, love."
Pulling another shirt from the closet he slipped it on and just left it hanging open as he walked into the kitchen and he poured them some coffee. Taking a sip he teased her. "Remember I like my eggs over easy, love."
"Who said anything about eggs? You have cereal, right?" She smiled and ran her fingertips down his naked chest.
Mickela moved around the kitchen. One of the few things she knew how to do was cook. She didn't get much of a chance to do it. She usually only cooked for herself so there wasn't much need to go through a lot of trouble. The only time she really cooked was during the holidays when she helped her mom.
She set the plates of eggs over easy, bacon, biscuits, and fried potatoes on the table. Mickela sat across from him and sipped her coffee. It was the first time she'd cooked for him. She wondered if he'd like it. But what she really wondered was if he would want to come to her family's house for Christmas.
"Well dear," She teased him. "Is it edible?"
Making a face he sniffed his plate then laughed at the look she gave him. Taking a bite he leaned over and kissed her. "Delicious, love. You're a real keeper."
Egan had watched her cook and smiled softly as she took a bite. He wanted this life, but wasn't so sure he could have it. "Are you ready to go home?"
Mickela was unfamiliar with Australia. What she had seen so far, was beautiful. The Glen nearby was a charming and picturesque town. Loud and bustling, New York, by contrast, was quite different. There were things she loved about the city and things she could do without. But it was her home. The only one she knew. She was ready to go back. She grinned softly and nodded. "Yeah. Are you ready to see what New York is like?"
Grins softly he wasn't fond of town he could only imagine the hustle and bustle of a city like New York. But New York was where his Mic was. Maybe he could find it tolerable with her. Taking her hand he kissed it. "I'm ready to see it with you, love."
Three hours later found them handing their boarding passes to an attendant then walking down the long ramp to the plane. She pushed her carry-on bag under her seat then sat down beside him. Mickela smiled as she took his hand and squeezed gently. "We haven't taken off yet. There's still time to change your mind."
Squeezing her hand back and giving her a shake of his head. "I'm not going to lie; I'm a bit nervous about being in a big city. Never really been in one for longer than a few hours. But I'm not changing my mind, Mic." Smiles softly, "Besides there's horses somewhere in New York."
He leans over kisses her cheek. "This is my first flight you know."
She smiled. "Well if you get nervous, just tell me. I know just how to distract you."
Chuckles and smiles. "Well you may feel free to distract me anytime you wish, love"
She snuggled next to him, resting her head on his shoulder as he looked out the window. As the plane lifted, the whole of Australia and the surrounding ocean started to come into view. "Amazing from up here, isn't it?"
Egan looked out and grinned. "It is amazing. To be able to see the world like this is really something." He kissed her forehead giving her a shy smile. "I guess I sound fresh off the farm to a well traveled woman like you."
Mickela caressed his cheek. She loved the feel of beard. She shook her head gently and smiled. "I'm not very well-traveled. I grew up in Connecticut. My parents still have a house there. Going to Australia was the first time I've been out of the city let alone the country."
Lacing his fingers with hers he relaxed some. "So you’re really a country girl at heart."
"Hard to say," She smiled softly. "I grew up in a nice neighborhood. A big house. Lots of space. Then at some point I got the urge for the city. Busy, noisy, cramped. I love the city, but I think the only way I can handle it is by retreating to my parent's house every once in a while."
Kissing her hair he smiled picturing her growing up in a small town. "Do you get to see your parents often?"
Closing her eyes, she took in the sensation of each of his kisses, no matter how small, they were hers. She grinned and nodded. "I have dinner with them once or twice a month and I see them on holidays."
He was going to be with her during Christmas he wondered if his presence would keep her from going to see her parents. "My mum loved to cook for the holidays. We had a Christmas feast fit for two kings and then Dad would break out the banjo. Good times that."
She took the blanket the steward offered. Pulling it over both their laps, Mickela rested against his shoulder. "Where are your parents now?"
Smiles softly memories good and sad rushing across his mind. "Mum had a heart attack when I was young man. Dad lives on the other side of Coff's I see him every so often." He grins. "He's one of those folks that doesn't like company much no matter who it is."
She kissed his cheek softly. Mickela couldn't imagine losing one of her parents, though she knew it would happen one day.
Grins softly shaking his head. "No, I’m not usually around this time of year. We get together round May for a few days."
She kept wanting to ask if he would like to spend the holidays with her family. But Egan was so used to his quiet and solitude, Mickela wondered if he would be comfortable around a house full of people. She rested against him and they spoke quietly about the city. She told him about her favorite places she hoped to take him to while they were there.
After the in-flight movie, Mickela watched Egan reach up to turn off the light. She smiled when he kissed her again. He kept kissing her softly as they drifted off to sleep.
When she woke, she looked over to see Egan looking out the window. Mickela glanced at her watch and knew they must be landing soon. She rested her head on his shoulder and looked out the small window at the huge city lit by thousands of lights. She kissed his cheek. "Welcome to New York."
He looked out at all the tiny lights nuzzling against her he smiled softly. "I didn't think it was that big."
Mickela stretched the sleep from her body and grinned. "Wait until you're on the street. The buildings tower above you."
He grinned but it sounded claustrophobic to him. "Well, I trust you not to get me lost in all that."
She pulled her bag from under the seat and checked to make sure she had everything. Leaning over to him, she kissed his cheek. "Of course not. I intend to keep you right at my side."
Mickela stood up and slung her bag over her shoulder. "Ready to go." She smiled.
Taking a deep breath as he stretched Egan stood sliding his arm around her with a smile. "I'm ready, love. Let's go see your big city."
