"As Good a Place as Any"
Abby Campbell turned down the dirt road and smiled. She didn’t know where she was headed or where she’d end up, but that didn’t bother her. She was free and it was exhilarating. She put the top down on her convertible, breathed in the warm Australian air and sighed. It had been a long, hard road, but she’d managed to survive the journey and come out the better for it.
Days earlier, Abby had packed up everything she could manage to fit into 2 suitcases, left her little apartment in Dallas, Texas, and headed for the airport. She didn’t care where she went, just as long as it was far away and there was an available flight heading out as soon as possible. That’s how she had ended up in Sydney, where she bought herself a car headed towards parts unknown (well, unknown to her, anyway).
As Abby rounded a sharp curve in the road, she noticed a large sign which read, "Welcome to The Glen." She smiled again. "The Glen....Hmmm....well, why not...sounds like as good a place as any to start a new life."
Turning on the car radio, Abby continued down the road that headed into the community, singing happily as she drove.
