Map Quest

Richie was almost in The Glen when he called Travis hoping to find a map.

Travis answered the phone in his office, "Hey Richie what can I do for ya?"

"Travis, look um I know it’s late but I’m trying to find a map of the coast up to Queensland, I got a road map but that’s not what I need."

"Coastline, you going fishing?"

"No, I’m looking for somebody, somebody that maybe sailed to Queensland."

"You’re looking for a nautical map, Rich."

"Yeah I guess that’s it, have you got one I can use?"

"Well yeah, I know there’s several on the boat…wait a minute I might have one here." Travis looked in a file drawer behind him and came up with a map. "I got one here, you wanna come by and get it?"

"Yeah if you don’t mind." Richie drove on to Glenridge.

Travis was explaining the map to Richie, "Yeah there’s all kinds of little bays and inlet all the way up. How far up Queensland you reckon?"

"I don’t know, I thought I’d start checking marinas as soon as I crossed the border."

"You know his boat?"

"White with a black band around it.’

Travis chuckled, "not much to go on, let me find Kyle if its outta Coffs he’ll know it."

"You know who it belongs to?" Kyle asked.

"Barth Madison," Richie answered.

"the bounty hunter…"

"You know him?"

"I’ve met him at the marina. His boat’s a 34 ft. sail named Bountee. That’s B-o-u-n-t-e-e-."

"What do you know about him, Kyle, Richie’s looking for him."

"He’s all right, kind of guy you’d want on your side, he could be dangerous if he wanted to be. He’s quiet, keeps to himself. I didn’t think he posed a risk.

Could be dangerous stuck in Richie’s mind, he ran a hand through his hair. "Thanks a lot, Kyle. Hey I really appreciate this Travis."

"No problem, Rich anything else we can do let me know."

Richie headed for the door and Kyle walked out with him to his vehicle, "You driving tonight?"

"Yeah," Richie opened his car door.

"Just so you know, Barth carries a little revolver, he’s also got a knife strapped to his leg down near his right boot, outside of his leg," Kyle grinned a little, "my job to notice things like that."

"Thanks, thanks a lot." Richie shook his hand and slid behind the wheel. As he drove out of Glenridge toward the coast highway he was beginning to wonder just how involved Libby was with Barth Madison. Something else too, he’d felt like she hadn’t told him the truth about spending the night on his boat, now he knew she’d left out a lot of details. Maybe he didn’t want to know them.
