Am I Her Keeper?
Richie stormed out of his office and down the street not even paying attention which way he was walking, he need to walk off some steam. Fucking Frank.
Max skinner stopped him on the sidewalk and asked if he’d seen Libby Tyler he told him no, being a little short with his answer. Max just said he was concerned because she’d taken a large sum of money out in Coffs and hadn’t been by the bank, it was an unusual thing for her to do. Richie wanted to know how much but Max wouldn’t tell him.
"Five figures, six figures?" Richie asked. Max only looked at him. He continued on up the street, when did he become Libby’s keeper that the fucking banker had to ask him about her? He wasn’t her keeper she could do whatever she damn well pleased with herself, he didn’t care, nothing to do with him…large sum of money in Coffs. Why? And then the note to Frank and call to Cal what the hell was she up to…vacation? No…hell no she was running he knew it. God damn her…he stopped and slapped the wall of Barrett’s.
So why was he so upset…why did he feel fucking responsible for her he didn’t want to feel responsible for Libby. He didn’t need Libby Tyler in his life. Damn friendship she wasn’t his friend that’s not what they had. He didn’t want to think about what they had, put a name to it…affair…sounded too flimsy. He looked up and found himself at the corner, Lucy’s bakery on his left, McGee’s butcher shop about ready to open across the corner. What the hell was he doing up here?
He went in Lucy’s and bought a coffee, slowed him down a little he walked back down the street sipping thoughtfully. Where would she go…with a large sum of money? Hell anywhere…Coffs she’d been in Coffs.
He tossed the cup in the trash bin and headed for his vehicle. Miss Peeg was just unlocking the office door, "Mr. Roberts?"
"Miss Peeg…don’t open my office door."
"Mr. Roberts, what’s wrong?"
"You wouldn’t have any idea where Libby would take off to would you?"
"No sir, has she gone missing again?"
‘Yeah, looks like it…okay well I’m…uh I may be away for awhile…just keep it going for me till I get back." He slid under the wheel and pulled out of the parking space.
