Baser Instincts
By Atonia
He’d been standing around in the store long enough to bring the attention of the security guard on himself. He saw the guard and picked up a tee shirt and carried it over to the clerk to ring it up for him. He smiled slightly while the man stared him down. He made his purchase and walked outside to the employee parking area. She’d be getting off soon, he lit a cigarette and leaned on her car.
Jean left Kim’s office and picked up her bag, she’d bought a new pair of strappy heels. She put her sunglasses on as soon as she left the building and walked toward her car stopping when she saw the man leaning against her door. It scared her at first then she recognized him from the Aubrey reception, he was Boz’s friend. She smiled a little and walked toward her car.
"Hi, I recognize you but I don’t’ remember your name."
"Hando."
‘That’s right, odd sort of name…I’m Jean…"
"I know who you are. I just wanted to say hello."
"How is Boz…I keep meaning to come out and see him…just seems to…"
"Yeah…that’s how it goes ain’t it. All those years and now…can’t find the time."
"What do you want Mr. Hando?"
He grinned at the mister, "Like I said…hello."
The look he gave her sent chills up her spine and heat to her groin. "You’ve…said it twice."
"You’re going to see me again…soon."
"Where’s your girl, you had a girl…"
"Had. She’s moved on…left me all broken hearted I need comforting."
Jean immediately thought of March. "I understand some of that…yes I can understand." Something so animalistic about him, dangerous and sexy. "I need to um…my car."
"I know what you need and just how you need it." He smiled and moved away from her door.
"Really you…you shouldn’t talk to me like that…that’s very…"
"Personal…well think about it. I’ll be around."
Her hand was shaking trying to get the key in the ignition. He’d walked out of the parking lot but this voice and his words still lingered around her. She leaned her head on her steering wheel, how could she be attracted to someone like that…it was crazy…but it was true. He appealed to her baser instincts.
