Introduction to the Future

Kim barely had time to fish some bills from his pocket to pay for the drink when Cara grabbed him by the tie and hauled him up.

"You’re coming with me," she said determinedly

"Where…Cara let go of my tie…Cara," Kim protested

"Oh no…I’ve got you now…there’s someone you should meet." She said pulling him along out of the restaurant and down the street.

"Cara please people are staring…laughing," Kim was red in the face

Cara said nothing not releasing his tie she entered an apartment building and pulled him to the elevator. She had nothing to say in the elevator despite his prostrations.

"Come on," she said reaching in her bag for a set of keys.

They stopped in front of a door and she inserted the key. "What are we doing Cara?" he asked his tie still in her grasp.

Cara opened the door to the lounge area where a middle aged woman sat reading. "Hello Mrs. Wilson…everything okay?"

"Oh yes dear no problems at all," she answered.

"That will be all then…thank you so much for sitting in."

Cara pulled him down the hall and quietly opened the door to one of the bedrooms still holding him by his tie she led him over to a crib, "Kim I’d like you to meet Kimberly…she’s your daughter."

Shocked into silence he simply starred into the crib the floor seemed to waver and fall away and he slumped against the crib sliding slowly to the floor.
