Jan Rollings, an Introduction
Jan checked on Tee and found Gracie packing his bag and laying out what he was to wear to The Glen. Travis was a tricky devil; this was his way to get her out to his ranch. She returned to her bedroom and got ready for her bath. Dressing, for Jan, was a way of life and she had an extensive wardrobe. Most of her clothes had been given to her by famous designers. However that would probably stop now that she wasn’t modeling anymore.
Jan was at the top of her form as a model and lived in Paris. She was always in demand and had a stand out runway strut. That was all over now; the motorcycle accident finished her career. She’d had plastic surgery and there was little scaring visible on her left knee but all the money and fine doctors she’d had could not get rid of the limp. Not that it was that noticeable, especially if you didn’t know, but she knew and wearing the stiletto heels required was out of the question now. Jan was careful not to walk too far or become tired for it was then that the limp was apparent.
After the many surgeries required to rebuild her knee she returned to Sydney addicted to pain killers. Her father, a real estate baron, checked her into Windmere Spa, a nice name for a rehab center popular with the rich and famous. That was where she met Travis.
When she came out of rehab, her father helped her set up a public relations company; her contacts with the media came in handy especially with Travis. He had become an overnight celebrity when he hit the jackpot and he foolishly went on a drunk passing out money and information to whoever came to him with a story. Gently she had taken him and guided him and helped him come to terms with his new status. He had with her help remade himself at least outwardly. He was insecure, volatile, generous to a fault, funny, affectionate and in love with her. He also had a deep sense of responsibility for his family.
Jan had little contact with her father…they simply moved in different circles. Jan’s circle now included Travis McGee. At first she worked for him but had stopped being on his payroll at her insistence some time ago. She was deeply passionately in love with him.
