Kim Barrett Are You Listening?

"I was talking to your mother about you Kim, you’ve been out of university for five years now and except for a few brief stints filling in for our vacationing managers…you haven’t done a damned thing." Royston P. Barrett lit a cigar and sat back in his leather chair looking across the desk at his youngest son. "And so I said to your mother it’s time to see what he’s capable of we’ll start him out with a store of his own."

What was her name…oh yes Misty or was it Mitzy…something like that, Kim checked his watch.

"I know you’ve never been particularly interested in Barrett’s but you’ve always known it was your destiny my boy. Destiny has arrived…it will be a chance to see what you’re made of…I’ve purchased the store and its contents… you will want to replace the stock and most likely upgrade…I’ve worked out a budget for you to get started."

Had he remembered to make the reservations…ah hell no…no matter he could always get a table. After all he was Kim Barrett. If he could get out of here he’d have time for a manicure and get his hair trimmed…if he could get out of here…what was the old man droning on about anyway?

"It’s a new venture for us…a smaller scale store but with the same upscale merchandise. Our experts have completed their market survey and have determined the potential for a great success. I have no idea what your cousin has left behind…a variety store of all things…what an embarrassment to your Grandfather. Of course everything will be rather compact but with the temporary staff I will be sending along with you it shouldn’t take long to get everything ship shape." Mr. Barrett tossed a ring of keys across the desk, "this will get you in the door and the rest my boy is up to you…oh by the way," he fished around on his desk and tossed a map on top of the keys, "a map…that will get you to The Glen.

The sound of the keys hitting the desk brought Kim back to his father’s office. "I’m sorry sir what were you saying?"
