Opening a Door
Richie walked in the door of his new office and placed his official Solicitor’s acceptance on the wall. He was open for business in The Glen. Toni followed him in he had a nice office and meeting room with a small receptionist desk out front. She eyed the receptionist desk and pursed her mouth. Toni decided whoever sat there would have to be past it. Not that she didn’t trust Richie…like placing a drink in front of an alcoholic…she was only thinking of him as she smiled.
“I like it Richie now all you need is some business.”
“I’m sure it will come.” He sat down at his desk and tested the phones, fired up his computer and sent a message to his old partner in New Jersey.
Toni opened the box that contained his new business cards and placed a few out front. “When are you going to hire a receptionist?”
“Not until I need one, don’t see paying someone to sit out there and file her nails.”
Toni looked in his door, “or knitting pram shawls for her grandkids.”
Richie suppressed a grin, “or knitting. When are you going to marry me Toni?”
Toni turned back to the front office, “when I think you’re serious Richie.”
“I am serious”
Richie came up behind her and put his arms around her waist. “What brought that on?” she looked up and asked
“I don’t know…maybe seeing your friend Ivy and Jim…you said when we got to Australia we’d talk about it…we’re here babe.”
“Are we talking about it?”
“Yes.”
“Now right here?”
“What’s wrong with here?”
“I don’t know, doesn’t seem very romantic…a solicitors office.”
“You want romantic? I can do that,” he turned her around and kissed her, “I’ll do it right, Toni and you won’t be able to say no, I’ll do it right.”
Toni kissed him back, “I expect you will Richie, now are you taking me to lunch at Millie’s?”
