Wanna Dance?
Nonnie and Richie arrived in Sydney a little after six o’clock in the evening. He picked her up in front of her shop in full view of The Glen, bags and all so everyone knew they were going somewhere together. That was what was nice about this trip, no prying eyes. Not that he really cared, it was common knowledge he was going with Nonnie but it was nice to get away and like she said, reconnect after their emotional meltdown.
He’d made the call to Libby and canceled their date on Friday night he didn’t know now what he was thinking at the time when he made the date. Maybe it was because he didn’t know where he stood with Nonnie and he needed comfort. As usual she’d said it was okay there would be other times but he still felt bad about it. He felt bad about Libby but that was his own doing and he didn’t know yet what the outcome of that was going to be.
Running into Toni at the flat made him step back and look at himself and he didn’t much like what he saw especially now that Nonnie was going to give him a second chance.
"I must say, Richie you chose well, this is a perfect spot, look at the view." Nonnie stood by the windows looking over Sydney Harbor.
Richie came up behind her and put his arms around her waist and kissed her on the neck, "not bad, huh."
Nonnie turned in his arms, "Not bad at all." They kissed for a long time and she began unbuttoning his shirt. "It could get better…." She smiled up at him.
"You think?" he came out of his shirt and began tugging at her sweater pulling it over her head.
They made love in the big bed and later went out for drinks and dinner and a walk around. Back to the hotel, making love again and then sleeping in the next morning and ordering breakfast in their room. The next night they went on a dinner cruise.
"This is nice," Nonnie said, hair whipping around her face.
"Want to go back inside, I think they’re playing our song."
"Do we have a song?" she grinned.
"Yeah, I think we do and I want to dance with you."
He took her in his arms on the dance floor burying his face in her hair as they slow danced around the floor. Nonnie…there was no one else but Nonnie. Her body fit perfectly against his, felt good against him. It had been a good trip so far, she was fun to be with and all she had to do was turn her sultry eyes on him and he melted.
The song ended and still they held each other their eyes meeting, speaking volumes. "I love you Richie."
"I love you, Nonnie," he kissed her and got a round of applause that had them both blushing. "Sometimes I forget where we are." He grinned leading her back to their table.
"Sometimes I don’t care where we are, the moment was right."
"Yeah, it was." He held her hand across the table, "What are we going to do about it?"
"You need to let me in and explain what you’re talking about, you’ve lost me."
"I almost asked you to marry me and you stopped me. So do you want to live together?"
"You want me to move in with you…do your laundry and cook your meals?"
"No, it would be nice to come home to you at night…sit out on the deck and talk, have a drink."
"Everything but the ring…let me think about it."
"You’re more to me than just a date, somebody to take out…you are."
"Do you know why I won’t marry you? It’s because marriage implies certain commitments, there are vows involved. I don’t want you to say those vows to me."
"Because you think I won’t keep them."
"Yes and there’s nothing I can do about that. So if I decide to move in with you none of that applies but as I asked you before, respect applies. I would expect you to honor that request and not embarrass me…ever."
"I promise you, Nonnie, I promise to respect you in public and out. So will you?"
Nonnie took a breath, "yes, my family and I will move in with you because I too would like to come home to you."
Richie smiled and kissed her hand, "wanna dance again?"
