When a Study is Not a Study

"Toni you’ve got to stop this honey," Richie had just sat down at his built in desk in his den and turned on his computer.

"Stop what?" Toni leaned against the doorway.

"You’re junking up my computer with stuff," He was trying to get to his footy fantasy page.

"Your computer I thought it was ours."

"It’s in my den on my desk so that makes it mostly mine."

"Well excuse me if I had one on my desk I wouldn’t be bothering YOUR COMPUTER."

Richie turned around, "well you know we did talk about making that front room in there your own little space but you haven’t bothered doing anything about it."

"It’s a study Richie…study’s are for men…women don’t have studies."

Richie just looked at her, "who says it’s a study why can’t it be Toni’s space."

The architect it’s on the plans as a study it looks like a man’s room."

"Toni…I know without a doubt you can change that…paint the damn room pink or something."

Toni stuck her nose in the air and walked to the study and turned on the light, it was all dark paneled with built in bookcases a little fireplace, mullioned casement windows that opened on to the front garden. Right now there was a bed in the room and a hodge podge of other pieces. It was so mis-matched she couldn’t imagine it as her space. She walked over and closed the drapes and turned back it was cozy…had possibilities but she would paint the paneling…would Richie care if she did that?

She was back in the doorway, "Richie…it's going to cost you money."

"I never doubted that Toni." He was busy with his updates to the footy page.

"I’m talking hiring a decorator money."

"Um…hum."

Toni grinned.
