The Best Man For The Job?

“Have you seen the notice in the paper, Max?” Ceri asked as she set the table for breakfast.

“Not yet, Luv,” Max replied as he walked into the kitchen. He was wearing sweat bottoms and a vest top, his hair was damn and tousled from the shower, and Ceri thought he was adorable.

Kissing the top of his head as he sat down, she was grabbed and pulled onto his lap for a proper kiss.

“Well, good morning lover,” she sighed once she got her breath back. Wriggling off his lap, she continued to get the breakfast set out.

“Now, what’s so interesting about the paper today?” Max enquired. Ceri went over to the counter top and picked up the latest ‘Times’ edition.

Finding the right page, she folded it up and handed it to Max. In bold type, the announcement for the upcoming elections was prominent on the page.

“Jack Aubrey and that Harbor person are standing for mayor, and General Meridius seems to be up for councilman.”

“That’s not in the paper, how did you find that out?”

“It’s a girl thing,” Ceri laughed, pouring our two cups of tea. “Now, did you notice they need a treasurer?”

“I most certainly did, my love,” Max smiled.

“Max, I think you should run for office. You would be perfect for the job, after all, no-one knows money better than Max Skinner.”

“Alright, I think I’ll give it a go, after all, the bank is only open four hours a day so I should have plenty of time to give the council. We’d better let the paper know,” he said, reaching for the toast and marmalade.
