Terry Needs To Talk

Terry accepted the hug and kiss on the cheek from Merinda before she got into her car. She buckled up and wound down her window.

"It’s been a nice visit, Terry. I hope I’ll see you again soon." Starting the engine, she waved as she headed off down the drive. Terry waved back, the smile leaving his face as soon as Meri turned to watch the road. One more wave as she turned off the property and she was out of sight.

Turning to go back to the house, Terry sighed. He’d enjoyed the surprise visit. He thought he’d been coping on his own, but as he walked from room to room in his new home, he realised just how quiet it was, and how much he’d been hiding himself away. Something had to change…but was he ready for it yet?

He walked through the lounge room out onto the patio and decided that a quick dip would help clear his head. Dropping his clothes onto a lounger, he dove into the pool and started to swim. Thirty laps later he stopped for a breather and looked up at the sky. It was getting a little cloudy, the first time in over a week that the sky hadn’t been a perfect empty blue. Pulling himself up out of the water, he remembered he hadn’t brought a towel out with him. Picking up his clothes, he padded naked across the patio, leaving perfect wet footprints in his wake. He walked round to the kitchen door, not wanting to leave damp patches across the wood flooring in the lounge room, and smiled as he stepped onto the Terrazzo tiled kitchen floor, it was nice and cool.

Grabbing a nearby hand towel, he wiped the worst of the drips from his body before walking upstairs to his bedroom. After a quick shower to wash off the pool chemicals, he dressed in a pair of shorts and a vest. Sitting on the edge of his bed rubbing his hair dry, he looked over at the phone. Picking it up slowly he stared at the keypad for a couple of seconds, then making up his mind, he began to dial…
